The history of computer printing technology is dry, but I will testify that even a M.I.T. computer science professor and the President of Xerox weren't reprinting Old Judges on livingroom computer printers in 1944. |

Of legal note, a thing to do if you get a home computer printed fake is to keep any other print out that comes with it. Or get a second print out later, perhaps by buying something else. |

I will probably sue him here in CA; there is ample precedent for jurisdiction and if he doesn't appear, I will default him and turn it over to a collections agency in IL. |

Has anyone actually had success by filing with USPS fraud or the local authorities? I have tried it once over a $1200 fake card but heard nothing back from either. I would call to ask about progress on the police report I filed and my call would not be returned. I hope my situation is the exception. |

I purchased a $375 set on Ebay. The seller, who had good, albeit little feedback, was shorly NARU'd a few weeks later and I never got anything from him. I proceeded to file charges with the US Postal Service and the FBI Internet Fraud Division. I also contacted all of his other buyers and provided the information they needed to do the same- the key to getting action from these agencies is volume- they want to see that this person has defrauded more than one person. |

I have had success with both the USPS and the local police. Sometimes it takes a little more effort but they are pretty good at it once they know you are not going to go away. |

The guy who sold me the damaged caramel card. I returned the card per his instructions (via certified mail w/return receipt of course so I'd have a delivery record) and received an email saying he'd received the card and was sending a refund check. Since then (about 2 weeks ago) no check and an ominous silence in response to my emails. |

I finally got a partial refund from the seller of the misrepresented e card. He deducted the shipping and did not repay the cost to ship the card back to him. So, instead of being out $31.80, I am only out $7.68. Needless to say, I will not being doing business with Mr. Chaffee again... |
