Default A comparison of two Branch Rickey letters

Here are two letters sent from Branch Rickey to Walter O'Malley only months apart. These do not appear to be in the same hand. As I am in the (admittedly slow) process of moving my home office from upstairs to downstairs, I cannot locate my Ron K. book at the moment. In any case, I value the opinions of many posters here, and I thought this could be a good source of discussion.

Any thoughts? Note the presence of "J" on the lower left in one, and "BR/J" in the other. Any significance there?
