I rarely post here, but I am choosing to due to BMW reference.
I just received one of those emails with an attachment that I suspect is a virus waiting to be opened. It said that it was from bmwsports@msn.com the subject was "R: Your product". I know that it is not from BMW, but it looks like someone is now making the sender look more inviting.
I also recently started getting fake "Message from eBay Member Regarding Item #..."

The one entitled "re: your product" contains an attachment with the Netsky worm. Symantec covers it in good detail here. It's reading from an address book to fake the name of the sender.

Any email supposedly from eBay can be confirmed by them by forwarding it to spoof@ebay.com. An automated response comes back with a confirmation or denial.

The messages that are a question from an eBay member have the users address, not eBays.

I got one from oldoriole that made no sense, I have Norton Internet Security and it has been catching alot of viruses lately

I've also gotten a bunch of those "question from ebay member" emails lately, all of them asking to send extra money for shipping (one was to Saskatchewan - some powerselling elk, I guess). This type of email is supposed to come out of the eBay system, but it's not - the headers show them coming from a Yahoo address. I think these cons are just mass mailing people hoping someone will send off a few dollars.
