Default What is your favorite card?

I guess my favorite card is the T210 Joe Jackson card. I don't own one. My favorite card that I own is probably a T213 Ty Cobb. What is your favorite card?

(this is a perfect thread for a mock Jeff's board thread)

1957 Topps Mantle, in part I guess because of the impression it made on me as a young kid.

Sticking with prewar baseball:

Bought it raw when I was a kid.

I don't think there's a nicer-looking card than a T227 Baker, but my favorite cards are my Louisiana type cards, especially these two.

I need to get a better picture but I have to post this one because it also has a story behind it. It wasn't my first Mantle but I fell in love with the card art, as how could you not? 1956 was a beautiful set for topps.

I acquired it at a small show that was run in the VFW building in Cooperstown, at a young age. My Father purchased the card for me. It was one of the first memories I have of really collecting cards, and it was also my first trip to the Hall of Fame.

I remember speaking to the man who sold it to me, who I later found out was George Mollyn. He must have taken a solid 20 minutes to talk to me about all different sets both pre and post war. Spent a lot of time talking about the 33 and 34 Goudey sets. Really one of the highlights of the trip, in my opinion.

I could find one in better condition, but I don't think I will. I don't plan on grading it or parting with it anytime soon. It's still in the holder and plastic that it was sold to me in. With the writing on the back of the plastic indicating the price. It'll stay like that for the future, as a way to remind me of that hot summer day, packed into the tiny VFW discussing cards as a kid.

Great cards everyone, Ben, that Cobb is a treasure as is Chads Johnson.
Not sure the term "Chads Johnson" is appropriate for this sub.

My absolute favorite player when I was a kid (I’m 44, never saw him play). I loved the beauty of his numbers. Never thought I’d ever own this card. Picked this up last year with an assist from these Boards.

'33 Goudey #144, Ruth. To me, this will always be the quintessential baseball card for the game's most iconic player.

This is going to be a great thread.

This is my favorite card (although I think the 53 Bowman PeeWee Reese is the coolest card). I love the two players, and I feel like Wagner is literally handing “best player in the league” honors off to Cobb for the next decade

So much eye candy here. Great cards everyone.

Here's mine based on provenance. In todays market of altered cardboard knowing a cards origin is king.

I uncovered 200 raw T204's from an original collection 7 years ago and this was one of the cards that was mixed in within the lot.

Exquisite and unaltered!

Pre-war is the T3 Cobb, and post-war is the 1953 Bowman Reese, although I always do enjoy looking at the 1976 Topps Traded Oscar Gamble.

May I just say WOW! Absolutely beautiful. The provenance and personal story of finding it makes it that much sweeter for you, I know. From an envious Big Train collector, enjoy your treasure!

EDIT: This could become an expensive thread for me if I don't stop looking at it

No, great cards, Jeff, and all. I think I was talking about a board started by another Jeff. It was supposed to be a friendly jab. I have forgotten the url as the board had stalled. Not sure if it is still around. It was mostly a pick-up thread board.

Let's see some more cards.

My favorite card is probably the 1954 Bowman Ted Williams. Always thought that was a great looking card.

For my PC, the grail card would be a T206 Drum or Broad Leaf of one of the Providence players.

My 52 Topps Jackie is definitely my favorite card. Love this image and color. And it's a nearly impossible card to find centered.

Snowman-

I know that you’re a big fan of centering. When it comes to a card like this, how do you evaluate centering? In particular, it seems like the upper black line slants upwards as it moves across from left to right. Not sure if this is just an optical illusion that I’m seeing, but would be interested in your thoughts about whether the top/bottom centering should be measured on the left side, the right side, or in the middle.

52 Mantle, and it's not even close. I have quite a few others I enjoy owning, but unless I manage to pick up a t206 Wagner, Ruth RC, or t210 Jackson I don't see that changing.

Man, this is a tough choice. Tempted by the T206 Johnson portrait or the Diamond Star Greenberg, which are sentimental favorites as the first cards I loved and bought. But have to go with the Wagner rookie National Copper Plate, gorgeous portrait and bio.

I’m not a collector of oversized stuff. But I love, love, love this guy. I can only imagine the excitement of sending in your wrappers and having him show up in the mail after an agonizing wait.

I’m guessing the writing on the back marks the exact day it arrived in the mail. Makes me love it all the more, pure collecting joy.

Not my most valuable card, but can’t ever sell this one…. My favorite baseball card.

All time favorite, all sports, is 1957 Topps Basketball Bill Russell rookie.

Default Favorite card?

There are so many great cards- 1953 Bowman Color Stan Musial- perfect card. Cracker Jack Ed Cicotte- captured his arrogance perfectly. 1968 Topps 3D Roberto Clemente- the perfect storm! Great image, great player, rare and valuable. Trent King

Man, great thread. Chris, your Chase missing color is one of the best errors extant.

Can I pick 3?
