Default BASEBALL ADVERTISER:A Look into the past

Thought members of the board might be interested in this. Some may have been recipients of this. When I was in high school in 1980, used to get this magazine from T.C.M.A.
Unfortunately, I had little money and I was only interested in newer stuff from 1960's and 1970's. I really wanted those Fleer issues.
On last page, was advertising from HALL'S NOSTALGIA. I like the prices.
T-206 Matthewson(VG-EX) for $45.
Mint Cracker Jack Hall of Famers from 1915 for less than $100.
Oh, the GOOD OLD DAYS.

As someone who collects old ads of baseball cards and other hobby periodicals, I always wish I was in the hobby earlier when I see those prices....thanks for sharing!!

Default Tcma

Another great thread, Leon!
I graduated high school in 1979 and got this from them all the time.
I frequented Hall's Nostalgia since they opened. Great guys!
At one of my early card shows in 1980, TCMA sent me several hundred copies of this to give out. This was among the first freebies at our registration table.
Thanks for the memories!
Have a splendid weekend.
our Friend,
Bill Hedin

Hey Bill
Thanks for sharing that. That is cool. I graduated in 1981 and there were basically ZERO shows in Miami, Florida. And of course, I had no reliable transportation and who am I kidding, my father would not have let me go anyway when I was in high school.

And I think those prices were a bit higher than in the store, but just slightly. When I started going there in 77 T206s were 1.50 each and most HOFers were 10. Some pretty good growth of prices there too, even if it was only 2.50 in the store, nearly double in 3 years is pretty good.

Of course, my entire budget was about $10/week at the time.
My first two George C Millers were $3 each, and I had to call home and convince mom to bring me some cash.

I hung out there a lot after school (graduated in 81 too) Like almost every day. When I went to my first show they shooed me away from their table since I had seen or could see their stuff at the shop.

great piece and great memories.
i actually bought my first T206 in '84 at a 'show' in Pensacola, weeks after getting married---a matty dark cap in great shape for 'round 19 bucks.
i had inherited a handful of them a year or so earlier.

all the best,
barry
