Default Oversize early single-player photo - Anyone else have any?

A recent pickup, this photo of Al Carson of the 1911 PCL Vernon Tigers is amazing in its size. The photograph is fully 16" x 9.25", and the board mount is 19.5" x 12.5". HUGE (the mind boggles) for a photo this early, on thin paper and almost certainly printed in 1911 or very soon after. I can't recall ever having seen another 1910's or earlier single-player photo as large as this one.

Anyone else have anything like this?

Carson was, btw, an interesting player. Pro career 1908-1913, mostly in the PCL with Tacoma, Portland, and Vernon. One year in the major leagues with the 1910 Chicago Cubs. He pitched the PCL's 14th no-hitter in 1909 with Portland (vs the LA Angels). He was a teammate of Walter Johnson's with the 1907 San Diego Pickwicks. Retiring from baseball, he lived the rest of his life in San Diego, working as a police sergeant. The photo in question was found in San Diego and it seems possible/likely that it may have come from Carson's estate at some point. Many of you will know Carson via his inclusion in Obak and Zeenut card issues.

Default Claude Berry Photo

A few years back I was fortunate to pick up this large Claude Berry photo from a gentleman, who had bought many items from Claude's estate.

I realized that this photo was used as a basis for Claude's 1912 Hone Run Kisses card.

Shown is the photo with original frame with his 1912 Home Run Kisses card.

Nice photo Patrick, thx for posting. Super interesting that yours is also PCL and roughly the same year. Carson has a Home Run Kisses card as well but so far I can't find an example/image of it.

Edited to add: I found Carson's HRK card and it's a different image.

I remember a large individual cabinet of John Clarkson from one of the auctions in the 1980’s I think. Sorry I don’t remember more about it, but it stood out because it was oversized, earl and Clarkson. I only have Copeland’s sale catalogue left but I will search it.

Default Frank Schneighberg Oversize Photo

Frank pitched one game for the Brooklyn Superbas on June 8 1910. He gave up 5 hits, 4 walks and 7 earned runs. But Frank saved his best for his time pitching for the LaCrosse ( Wi. ) Pinks. Photo & mount are 17" by 10".

This is an imperial cabinet (8.75" x 13.75") of Mike Kelly from 1887, just after he was sold by Chicago to Boston and when he was at the peak of his popularity. The image is from the photo shoot that produced the image used for his Four Base Hits card.

No, it is an actual photo taken by those large camera’s. It is attached to hardboard. There was an auction in Bay City Michigan Around 1980 at a Knights of Columbus hall. A 92 yr old man had this & 5 others. I purchased all 6 pieces. Now owned by my 3 children. When I moved to Florida 5 years ago, had no room fo them Joe

At the time these were 45 year old enlargements made by the late Bill Kuenzel of the Detroit News. So, they are now 83 years old. I saw the same photos at the Michigan HOF which was located at Cobo Hall in Detroit. Joe

That's a great looking cabinet, but it looks like a different photo shoot to me.
