Default The BIN Price Guide

Let's face it, museum pricing on eBay is out of control. To facilitate purchasing for the naive among us, let's create a prewar BIN Price Guide. Here's the plan.

1. Find what you think is an outrageously high BIN listing. We'll call the asking price A.

2. Then find an actual completed sale for virtually the same card. We'll call the actual sales price B.

3. Then divide A by B, which we'll call C.

For example if A is 600 dollars and B is 150 dollars, then C is 4.

We will then consider C the BIN multiplier for that card.

Let's stick to serious BIN listings for real cards, if any of them are truly serious. Do not identify the sellers in any way, so as not to offend board members.

The C values may vary from set to set, and the ultimate BIN Price Guide will reflect these differences with the average C value for a set (or card), as well as the range of C values for the set.

Just post a brief description of the card and grade followed by A, B, and C.

I will compute or correct the C value if necessary and compile the results after 1000 posts.

Using the BIN Price Guide will facilitate the determination of a reasonable offer for those BIN listings that include a Best Offer option.

Ok I got this.
1990 Donruss Griffey. Lot of 7 sold for $1.29. So less than 20 cents ea.
Buy it now $31,500 + 3.82 shipping because shipping is getting expensive.
I think I win.

As far as the percentage...

There are some Jose Uribe BINs that are much higher than Adam's example I believe.

To wit

A BIN with a Best Offer option isn’t really an asking price. It’s an anchor to influence offers. E.g., last week I offered $650 on a newly listed $900 BIN, and the seller accepted it within a few minutes.

I like what you’re trying to do here, but if there is a best offer option, I do not think the BIN is anything other than a number that the seller invented to solicit offers at a (sometimes much) lower number.

True, but what percentage of offers at 50% of BIN price (C>2) are actually accepted. In my experience that number would be less than 10%. Very modest "Best Offer" offers are frequently rejected as well making one wonder why the best offer option was even added to the BIN in the first place.

Obviously there variables in all examples going forward and any conclusions drawn from this price guide may well be considered unscientific and hence useless.

Outing ridiculous BINs trumps utility in this thread.
