I was visiting my uncle in the New York area and he knew I was a huge baseball fan and more specifically the Cubs. Uncle knew someone that had connections at Ebbets Field and as luck would have it the Cubs were in town. This man knew Chuck Tanner who at that time was a Cub so this man calls Chuck over during BP and Chuck gives me a ball and I get a picture with him. After that we were able to gain access to the tunnel which led to the team clubhouses where we waited and had the ball autographed by both teams as they walked by (Campy is on the ball. One of the last games he played sadly). In addition I had a chance to have my picture taken with both Duke and PeeWee as well as four members of the Cubs team. My only disappointment was that my hero Mr. Cub Ernie Banks did not come by. After the pictures were developed this same friend took these two pictures back to Ebbets to have them autographed. Great memories.

Default Pics with Ball Players

Had the really good fortune of being involved with the 2013 ASG at Citi Field...here are just a few of the pics from that experience.

Here's a blurry Polaroid of my 11 year-old self and the late Dick Howser in 1973 when he was the third base coach for the Yankees.

My uncle was receiving some type of award at a contractors dinner / award ceremony at the Amber Lantern Restaurant in Queens, NY and Dick was the guest speaker.

The award ceremony was incredibly boring for an 11 year-old (and probably for most of the adults there as well), but Dick's brief but funny speech was the highlight of the night for me (and I wasn't even a Yankees fan).

Thanks Tony, I remembered right after I posted the photo of me and Hagler. He was leaving to have dinner with Frank Sinatra and I kept trying to talk my way into an invitation and his last words to me were "I better get out of here before someone gets hurt".....lol

Some fan made this to "honor" my famous streak of consecutive days blogging about WikiLeaks in its heyday. Don't ask.

Baztacula , I didn't know Champ Summers passed away until I read your post. I keep this autograph on my desk. What a bummer. My Dad played in a golf scramble with Jack Morris and Champ Summers during the strike shortened season of 1981 and got this autograph on the back of a golf scorecard. I love Champs signature. Its very legible and his handwriting style (not his game) reminds me a little of Ted Williams. I keep this on my desk more as a reminder of how thoughtful my Dad was to ask them for an autograph for his kid. This is a good example of how some of the best pieces in our collection do not always have to hold high monetary value.

Here is a photo of me (on the right) and my brother with Muhammad Ali at an autograph signing in Detroit back in 1995. The Champ was doing magic tricks and having fun with everyone. When the photo was taken I was surprised , looked back and saw that he stood up and had his fist pushed up against my face. It was awesome! This was by far the most enjoyable time at a signing we had ever had.

I worked in the art department on a couple Lucha Libre films with Mil Mascaras. I also had such memorable roles as "Aztec Zombie", "Creature" and "Policeman"... lol

I just took the creature mask off after a long night of shooting...

The story goes like this:

Wayne was in town to see Boise play as they were looking to sign his son. Friend of mine points out Gretzky and he's just hanging out by the speed pitch contest thing. I approached and asked for a photo. He very graciously said yes and had his assistant take it. I thanked him, looked at the photo and it was great. I immediately called my wife, freaking out that I'd met one of my all-time idols - at a minor league baseball game! I hung up, went to look at the picture again and it was gone. This was before I had a smartphone and you had to manually save any photos and I had not done that. I was crushed.

A couple minutes later, I saw Wayne walking through the tunnel to the seats. I apologized and asked for another pic. He says "sorry, just one" then gave me a big grin and we took another. I thanked him, went off to my seat, and looked at the pic. It was all shadow, completely worthless.

I went to my seat and now I'm just kicking myself. I look over and Wayne is sitting maybe 2 boxes over from me. I asked the lady behind me if I should try one more and she says "why not? Worst he can do is say no". So I tried one last time. I apologized again, profusely and we took one more. That's the one you see in this thread.

Through it all, Wayne was very kind, even funny. He even took off his sunglasses for the photo, a nice touch. He was largely left alone. The Indians sent an usher down to ask if he wanted people kept away and he said no. He signed any and all autographs, watched the game, and drank a beer or two.

And then the Indians scored 6 in the bottom of the 9th to win 6-5.

For a kid who grew up in Hockeytown, idolizing Gretzky, that night could not have been any better.

All of these were taken at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia. All were taken down at Darling Harbour. This was a gathering area near downtown. There were two fireworks shows there every night. Coca Cola radio was set up there (small studios set up for any radio station from around the world to use). This is also where they held boxing, fencing, judo, weightlifting, wrestling and volleyball.

Believe it or not, he just came in second in a 2 million dollar horse race.
Eddie O brought the Cup to the track in 1994.

L's up! My cousin is lifelong friends with Drew Ellis' dad and watched Drew play ball since t-ball. McKay was a beast, didn't he hit a walkoff against UK his senior year?

I could always show a photo of me and Todd Frazier...

...or a photo of me with the great Pete Alonso, who's so awesome he can hit a grand slam with the bases empty...

...but since someone else posted a photo with Mr. Met, I wanted to share one of my favorite photos of me and baseball's best mascot. It's a photo with a story, and there's even a memorabilia aspect.

The premise: on 9/17/22, the Mets gave away bobbheleads of broadcaster Gary Cohen. I offered to trade mine to Mr. Met in exchange for his cap. Mr. Met was all set to make the swap, but Mrs. Met said "NO DEAL!" with a mighty thumbs down. Oh well.

Me on the right with my favorite Subway pitchman!

We were both flying back to Philly from Chicago. Me from the National. But not Chuck.

Hopefully someone can turn the photo right side up. And if so please PM me and tell this oldhead how to do it.

Here you go Fred. Just open the image in paint and select the rotate option and you can rotate the picture 90 degrees.

My Dad took my brothers and me to the Vet...I remember it was cold and we hit icy roads on the way back home. Great memory!

And once you get the hang of what Pat mentioned, the whole world can be a funhouse where everyone walks on the ceiling. If you are so inclined.

Default I have this foul ball …

pitched by then Memphis Redbird Adam Wainwright at a game versus the Omaha Royals at Rosenblatt Stadium in 2005. Royals catcher Scott Walters was the batter. I’ve held on to it since then, hoping someday to get Adam’s signature on the ball. Finally happened at an event benefiting his Big League Impact foundation. I’m one happy Cardinals fan.

Default And a couple years ago at a Berkshire Hathaway shareholders meeting

At the time, I posted it on Facebook saying it was a photo of a couple future Hall of Famers. John got the call the next year. I’m still waiting.
