Default 1960s NFL Coca Cola Caps

I recently purchased about 200 of the 1960s NFL Coca Cola caps. However, I came across an oddity that I can’t seem to find information on. I have a Gale Sayers but the cap is spelled Gale Sayres. I’ve scoured the internet for two days but cannot find any info.

Does anybody have any information they can share?

Thanks.

I don't know anything about the caps myself. But there was an article about the football caps online (SCD) and the author said you can write to him. At the bottom of the article it says, "Doug Koztoski is a longtime contributor to SCD. He welcomes comments related to this article at dkoz3000@gmail.com." Maybe he can help you out? Good luck.

Default Try this guy

Mike in Michigan is an expert on this type of thing, hes a nice guy and a long time collector. Im sure he wouldnt mind if you contacted him..... he goes on this forum by the name Capman..... if anyone knows he will. Something tells me its just an uncorrected error so has no extra value..... but thats just my guess. Rocky

Thank you for the info….

But I do know that every other coke cap I’ve seen has the name spelled correctly.

Default Sayers/Sayres

It appears that this is indeed a variation but doesn’t carry much a premium over the corrected versions. Thanks to Mike (Capman) as he was able to offer some insight.
