Off topic I know, but what a game. Four consectutive home runs in the ninth to tie the score. Then a walkoff 2-run shot to win the game by one. All this done to take a half-game lead in the West. That was an exciting game no matter what era it was played in. Go Dodgers! |

That was one of the best regular season games I've ever seen. I got home in the 8th and watched the end, and Vin Scully's commentary made it even better. |

Has anyone noticed that the Yankees magic number is 3 -- kudos to Joe Torre on what might be his best managing job in NY this year. No Sheffield. No Matsui, Pay-Rod playing like a dog; yet the Yankees easily won the division. |

The feel good story of the summer and fall is not the Dodgers or Padres or Mets or Yanks or Bosox, it's the Twins. With all their injuries including the devestating loss of the best lefthander in the AL, Francisco Liriano, with a cheapskate owner in a small market town, they continue to play unbelievable baseball. Their 5 man rotation includes 3 rookies, Boof Bonser, Matt Garza and Scott Baker. They have no sluggers outside Jason Morneau. But as skipper Ozzie Guillen says, "They are little piranha, they bite and bite and bite at you and fight and fight and never stop." |

I cant give the Yankmes any kudos, they have by far the highest payroll in baseball even with players out. Joe Torre really has a tough job of putting any all-star at every position in the lineup and if a guy gets hurt we increase our payroll from 200 to 220 mil. If they played right they should set records in wins, runs scored etc etc....no credit is deserved. When they can win with a payroll anywhere near the league they get credit but they cant these last 5 years and they just keep spending more.Other teams win the world series,Yankees buy it,big difference. The league needs a salary cap even if its at a joke level like 125 mil where only 3 or 4 teams can afford it. |

The only reason the White Sox made it last year was because the Twins had a down year when their defense sucked and they couldn't score runs. Now they have one of the best defenses again and have found ways to score with 4 guys that are slap hitters. Don't ask me how they are winning with that starting rotation but it sure is fun to watch and the White Sox have returned to there choking ways. |

Actually bowling shoe guy, the main reason the sox won last year was stellar pitching. The Twins had a "down year?" Ok, but nobody was going to beat the Sox last year. Can't take that away from them, they were the best in baseball. |

Was driving home from dinner last night. Put the game on the radio. Dodgers have the bases loaded, nobody out. Force at home, one out. Inning ending double play. Switched to music. Got home. Put the game on the tube. Dodgers have second and third. Guy pops out to end the inning. Turned off the tube. Came back later. Eighth inning. Dodgers don't do dick. Padres beat the crap out of Saito and Broxton. Padres 9, Dodgers 5. Went to bed. I hope the Dodgers appreciate what I did for them. If I had kept watching, it would have been a whole different ball game. |

David- It's the old story: if someone would have told you ahead of time the Dodgers would hit four consecutive home runs, you wouldn't have gone to bed early. That's like going home from a game that's tied 1-1 in the 10th because it's kind of boring and you find out the next day the game went 25 innings. If you knew that, you probably would have stayed. Regardless of who you root for, that 9th inning is one for the ages. |

The Chicken Soup Game. The city of Dallas is encased in ice, as players prepare for the game. Notre Dame QB Joe Montana recalled how the glazed metropolis appeared as he awoke that day. "It was beautiful -- beautiful if you were spending the day looking out a window." |

What happened to them bums tonight? Down four runs and they couldn't up with back-to-back-to-back-to-back homeruns again? That's why the Dodgers stink - there's no consistency there! Ha! |

Don't count your chickens! The Twins can pitch Santana twice in a best of 5 series and that means only one more win from the rotation. Scott Baker is a Yankee killer so I like the Twins-Yanks matchup. Twins also have been clobbering the A's. The TV guys are dreading an A's-Twins and Padres-Phillies championship games matchup but it could happen! |

Leon, the coldest most miserable football game I ever attended, also involved Montana - it was the infamous 'snowball' game at Denver back in the '80s, where someone in the end zone threw a snowball and hit the ball as the SF kicker was about to kick. Wonderful! |
