Both broke into baseball in the PCL at age 17. Both born in California. Both cryogenically frozen except for Dimaggio.

Both had 3 letter's in their 1st name, 8 letters in their last!
Both had an affinity for the letter M--Ted loved Moxie & Joe loved Marilyn.

Thanks Ted - let's keep it going - if you answer the question right, you should provide a new one...
No Googling please - what HOF'er holds the Red Sox team record for most losses in a season? |

Since you go by "scooter" and are in Boston....I'll tell you that I grew up 2 blocks away from the Scooter Rizzuto.
I told this to Ted Williams once, and he told me that if the Red Sox had the Scooter at SS all those years, they would have been the Champions instead of the Yankees. TED Z |

Hi Ted,
That doesn't surprise me at all... Ted was always serious when he talked Baseball or Fishing.... Hope you are well Brian |

Great story, Ted - I'm sure Rizzuto could have helped Ted's teams in Boston. And imagine if they hadn't dealt a minor leaguer by the name of Pee Wee Reese. But Pesky was a pretty good shortstop in his own right.
The Sox were their own worst enemy during that era, sending Jackie Robinson and Willie Mays away from tryouts while they were still in the Negro Leagues, thanks to some horrible mindsets in the front office. |

Probably Red Ruffing, he was awful with the Red Sox.

I've had several conversations with Ted back in the 1980's. One tremendous conversation with Ted
lasted for an hour. He did most of the talking....I was smart enough to just listen to him. I'll tell you about them sometime. Be good ole buddy, TED Z |

Correct Peter, Ruffing was 10-25 in 1928 for the Sox, then had a 9-22 season the next year before getting shipped to the Yankees and reversing his fortunes.

Vic Raschi
Vic Raschi's mom wanted her son to sign with the Red Sox as she was a fan. Vic was born in Springfield, Mass and was known as "The Springfield Rifle." Sox sure could have used him in the late 1940s and early 1950s.
