I don't have any CJ cards, but I have an embossed side panel to a shipping carton used to ship Cracker Jacks. I have dated it to between 1912 and 1922 based upon the writing content, so right in the timeframe for the 1914-15 CJ issues.

Erick, that's a helluva Thanksgiving table.
Tony, your CJ collection is one of a kind, those photos put the era in context.

I'm amazed considering how paper thin these cards are that any of them survived over 100 years without a crease.

Tony, it makes me smile every time I see your PSA 4 Cobb.
Just one of the most perfect cards I've ever seen, period!

Here are a few '15's, with the Cobb from a fellow board member:

Shellacked on a wooden plaque doesn't diminish the Cracker Jack appeal. If not shellacked on a wooden plaque, then no bio could have been engraved on the back. So shellack all Cracker Jacks on wooden plaques.

Wow, I have nothing to contribute but just to say amazing cards. This thread makes me want to sell everything I have and just buy Cracker Jacks! I've been after a Cobb for awhile and just can't find one. Again, congrats on these stunning Jacks!

This Meyers shows evidence of a failure to shellac my Jack on a wooden plaque. But somewhat seriously, Cracker Jacks can still be quite interesting, even if in knockaround shape and not featuring a Hall of Famer. I like the serious burnt candy popcorn confection stains on this bad boy, and the peekaboo gaping holes in his chest.

Nicer cards have much inferior interior gaps.

Mr. Griffith's Senators won the 1925 A.L. pennant, and his shortstop, Mr. Peckinpaugh, was named the A.L. MVP for 1925.

Here's my lone CJ. I like to think that's a caramel stain rather than something else big Ed encountered during his 100 year journey to my collection.

Well before he could drink rum, Jobu bought this one as a youngster. It was a card I had only seen in price guides and catalogs and it was one of those poses that always really spoke to me. I remember being astounded that I actually found one in person (not a ton of pre-war made it to the local shows in Milwaukee in the late 80s-early 90s) and the condition made it obtainable for a kid.

Wow, those are really cool!! Even though I just joined per a suggestion from someone related to some stamps I found, I may have to just get into this hobby!! Can I assume that these are originals which Cracker Jack actually placed in their candy boxes back in the day?

Welcome aboard! 1914's were exclusively distributed in boxes of Cracker Jacks, 1915's were distributed in boxes but you could also send away for the set. That's why you see condition issues between the years with more caramel staining on the 14's. And yes, all cards posted are original and member owned unless otherwise noted.

Someone new to the set viewing this thread might think Cobb, Johnson, and Jackson were double printed

I would guess the members here have a fair overall population percentage of those names mentioned.

Jamie, how in the name of God is your Cobby a SGC 2!! Is there some technical reason ,not visible on the scan, for the grader to commit such an injustice to your gorgeous card? If this is now the new grading standard there, then I might just have to go raw in the future (cards not body).
