Default 1933 Goudey advice

Hey everyone. I have been a member here for awhile, a seldom-poster, but usually have been looking at the football section of the forum. At the National, I decided to pick up a 1933 Goudey Ruth, the full body swinging pose, SGC 20. I love the card and it has great eye appeal, but it got me thinking. My last project was 1935 National chicle football, and I completed that set all in SGC holders. I am ready to start the 1933 Goudey set. I am looking for advice. I have no idea what to pay for cards, what are the fair prices. I know I can check completed eBay sales, but where does everyone look for info on prices for these cards? What are some good sites to look for cards other than the bay. Anything specific I should look out for? I am looking to do the commons in raw form at this time and hall of famers in PSA or SGC holders. I am new to this set and have a grand total of 1 card, so any and all help would be outstanding.
Thanks for all the help,
Eric

I forgot to mention that I am looking for VG to EX condition range, no creases. Thanks again

Well, you and I are now apparently in competition with each other!

I usually check cardtarget.com for some general pricing data, as well as ebay sales.

You should be aware that there are low numbered cards that tend to go for a bit more. This article will give you the details on this and other phenomena to be aware of:

Fortunately I am at 235/240, and am now picking up commons in PSA 5/SGC 60/BVG 5 holders, so we should not be in direct competition too often. I try to pick up as many examples of these for under $50 as possible.

Though technically the second Goudey I ever picked up, this Grove has been in my collection for about 25 years, which is about 23 years longer than any of the other Goudeys in my collection:

Happy hunting!

I'm slowly building a PSA 6 set. I use VCP and have found good deals in some online auction houses along with eBay and the B/S/T here. Good luck with your set Iowadoc. I've got a long way to go yet. Just 34/240.

Default Thanks for the advice

All good stuff.
Thanks to all who have responded.
I have also decided to finish up my 1971 Topps set. Back story- when I was 12 years old, my cousins boyfriend gave me a shoebox full of 1968, 1970, 1971, 1972, and 1975 topps mini cards. Highlights- 1968 Mantle, 1971 Clemente, Mays, Aaron, Bench, Frank Robinson, 1972 Fisk, 1975 mini Yount. I had a total of 236 different 1971 Topps in mostly VG-EX condition. The Clemente graded 60 by SGC, pretty good for a card that was well-loved and sorted many times by me. Anyway, I will be working on both sets, so should be fun.
Anymore advice would be appreciated. Thanks
