Default The Boner Thread

Let's hear about your biggest hobby error.

Collecting a set that didn't pan out and why.

Losing your shirt on a deal.

Losing your wife due to card budgets.

Trying to corner the Donruss market in 1990. OOOOO those red borders

Killing your mother for tossing your 52 Topps high number childhood collection

You are not alone.

We've all had a boner.

Consider it group therapy

When I lived in Michigan went to all flea markets & antique shows. I saw a a Louisville bat rack , old in pieces. I bought it for $65.00. Took it home, put my bats on it, it was great. Had it for many years. We were moving to Las Vegas & I was cutting my collection down. Contacted a auction house & decided to sell the bat rack. Sold it for $1000.00. 2-3 months later saw my bat rack sell for over $10,000. Have seen it sell more then 1 time. Sad day when I saw the bat rack in the auction.. This was in the 1990’s. Oh well, had some other great pickups during the years

Worst deal i can think of I traded a PC792 Plank for a lower grade CJ Plank, because who cares about postcards, right?

Selling my T213-2 Cobb w/bat that my Dad bought for me in 1982 for $75 in a PSA 3 T206 Cobb holder for $540 on eBay. I sent it in for grading back 25 years ago when I cared about grading.

Trading my T213-1 Cobb that I bought from Fritsch for $75, 25 years ago for a bunch of nothing-burgers after I upgraded to a PSA-A.
