This is the only thing I won. I really liked this Catalog, as Mastro had many nice memorabilia offerings in this one. I wish I could have gone for lots more, but finances did not allow at this particular time.

There were quite a few bargains to be had... my finger was on the mouse, for the Turn-of-the-Century Catchers Ensemble, but I just couldn't click on it- not with Lelands and Hunt still looming. Some people got some great deals, to be sure.

Anyway, I was very happy to get this one at a good price...

Great piece Mark. I would like to know who won the 12 1/2" pitcher statue. It's from a Wilson trophy made in the 30s. Calton and I were talking the other day and he made the connection. There is an example of it in his photos from the National on page 9. This figure has a different finish, but it's definately the same piece.

Definitely was a great auction with some bargains to be had. Would of liked to get the 19th C warm-up jacket but couldn't pull the trigger. Went a little too high for me right now. I'm kicking myself for not bidding on the Dizzy Dean ad sign. Someone really did well on that. I would like to get one of these early advertising displays. Oh well.

Mark,
Thats a nice little figural you picked up. You dont see many figurals from that era. Has great character. Nice job.

Whoever won the Wilson Statue (let's just call it the Walter Johnson statue) wanted it pretty bad. I had it valued at around $1,500 when I first saw it.

I was the under-bidder, and would have gone significantly higher, had I not won the other older statue. I have seen this Walter Johnson Piece quite a few times (usually as part of a trophy, as Mike stated). When it has not sat atop a trophy, it has had some sort of wood base attached.

Hunt's has a couple pictured, if you check their completed auctions. This was the first example I've ever seen with a brass finish, and without a base. 99% of the other lots were closed when this one was still going...

I thought I had it, but the winning bidder popped a bid a few seconds before the time expired on it. I conceded when it hit $800, as the other bidder apparently wanted it a lot - can't blame him! Here it is...

I did manage to win the 1908 White Sox program. Only 1908 White Sox program I have seen in 15 years. Pat Quinn's collection of white sox programs he consigned to Mastro a few years ago was even missing this one.
