Jay, I wondered that at first too, but after I thought about it, when I send a card or letter to my friends and family I don't always sign it at the bottom but more or less write normally so they know who sent it. |

Jay, Whomever wrote the side note likely addressed it as well (compare the "D's"). I'd guess Wahoo Sam had a clubhouse boy mail it out. Too big a Star to be running to the PO |

WOW Rhys. Congrats. About a year ago I was talking to a lady at an estate sale about baseball memorabilia and she told me she picked up a postcard that was mailed by Sam to one of his relatives back in Wahoo. She picked it up in an ordinary lot of postcards so the previous owner had no clue...Unfortunately she didn't want to sell it. |

I have no clue whether John's coin bank is authentic or not, but I purchased a reproduction of this bank at an Akron department store (a defunct chain somewhat like a third rate KMart) in LA area in the mid 1970's. I still have it, and it does not have any 'reproduction' identification on the item. To wrap things up in a little tiny rubber band ball, there are reproductions out there without any indication that they are reproductions. |

With respect to "Home Town Battery", my reproduction also doesn't have any identification. I'm not sure, but I thought the original bank was always called "Dark Town Battery" |

Yes Max,i did some research afterwards and realized its a reproduction of the original one with the name changed and the players changed from black to white. I didnt see any repo markings like the examples on ebay and a few other sites. I read a description from an antique toy website and their wording was confusing which led me to believe that the one i and you have were made after the one with the black players, but it was also reproduced at a later date. That mightve actually happened since neither of ours has the reproduction wording at the bottom, but i cant be sure of that. |

Is it an October pick up when you move furniture, and find something underneath? If so, then this is a recent pick-up. Here's some gents waiting for Casey to bat, apparently. |
