Can anyone tell me which 20th century baseball card set has the most Hall of Famers in it? I counted 65 in the 1933 Goudey Set and 52 in the 1940 Play Ball Set.

Are you talking about individual players or total number of HOFer cards in the set. I believe the T206 set has 78 cards featuring HOFers, not quite sure how many different.

I believe it's T206 (I count 76 cards of 37 Hall of Famers), though certainly there are forum members far more knowledgeable than I.

I cant help with the answer, but, IMO I wouldnt consider the 1940 playball set since many of the players were not actually playing at the time of release - if you count this set, you might as well count the 1961 Fleer set (almost entirely HOFers) or the 1976 Shakey's Pizza set.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I meant individual players and not various poses of the same player. I'd agree about the '40 Play Ball and '61 Fleer sets. How about "Which 20th century baseball card set has the most Hall of Famers, not including variations and active HOF'ers when the set was produced?" Any guesses?

AS for as the least amount of HOFer's Tarzan Bread, and as for the highest proportion or HOF'ers I'd say 1933 Delong.

There aren't 65 different Hall of Famers in the 1933 Goudey set, only 65 different poses (e.g., 4 of Ruth). And the 20th Century set with the fewest Hall of Famers is of course 2000 Fleer Tradition Update.

highest % t227-all 4 players are hall of famers
w512 and w551 both have 8 HOF'ers in a 10 card set

least would be minor league issues like the red suns,obaks,t209s etc which have none

the 35 goudeys have 36 cards in the set and 34 hall of famers pictured the only one with a higher % of hall of famers per card than that is the t200s which is over 100%

47 active hall of famers in the '33 goudey set (plus 3 retired players speaker,e.collins & lajoie which i did not count)my guess is this has the most active hall of famers of any set.

1970 Topps has 41 by my quick count (counting managers, Alston, Durocher, Williams, etc...).

There may be another 60's or 70's Topps set with more.

In addition this doesn't include Rose, Santo, Hodges, Torre, Oliva who may someday get in.

5 coaches on the manager cards
9 managers (either HOF as player - Mathews, Schoendist - or HOF for managing)

Not to count the All Time Leader cards of Ruth, Cobb, Young, Gehrig, and Johnson.

Plus Blyleven, Torre, Gossage, Rose, Santo, and Oliva.

Now that's some worthless trivia
