Default Wanted: 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle PSA 1

I have been looking for a card that belonged to my grandfather for years now.
When he died my brother sold it, before I could get to him to stop him.
it was graded by PSA years ago.
It is a PSA 1 but has the distiguishing mark on the back
S.A.G. on the back top/side, if looking at the card in the PSA holder it would be on the top, if holding card sideways to read the stats, it would be on the left.
I was told it surfaced on ebay about 2-2 1/2 years ago and sold for $2500-3000
If anyone has seen it or could help me find it
I would give them a "finders fee" to getting me in contact with the owner/collector.
thanks in advance
DZ

Maybe someone who was VCP can help and check to see if the card is there. If
it were sold 2-3 years ago, it might be before ebay hid the buyer names. Not sure this will completely work since I think VCP only stores the front images of the card, and not the back.

You might also want to see if you can find the PSA serial number and see if it is on the registry.

I've looked at VCP and without the number, it's going to be hard to tell. The last time a PSA 1 sold was 2/21/10.

I can look through the 15 pictures (which don't have pictures of the backs). Do you remember any distinct creases (eg. upper right corner down to his nose, etc.) which might help?

thanks
the front was exmt -nrmt
no creases and centered
it was graded a PSA 1 because of the writing on the back and was graded before PSA gave grades for MK.
if i saw the pics id know it right away
thanks everyone for their help

This is the only one that seems in the general condition you describe.

10/6/07 eBay dingos8my3bay palluotto2006 23 $4,250.00

First name is the seller, second is the buyer, the number 23 is the number of bids and the final is selling price.

Everything else in VCP has creases and is in worse condition than you mention.

Not to state the obvious and hopefully I don't depress or discourage you, but the possibility exist that the card was liberated and perhaps now resides in its original raw state, a different holder, or (GASP!) a different grade with the writing removed (darn M.D.'s).

Lovely Day...

Default Hey GUYS I FOUND IT.

I Found my Papa's 52 Mantle.
this past weekend i got a phone call from a buddy of mine that was viewing the current Huggins and Scott aution for Venz Mays.
and there it was in there auction.
the initials was S.A.T. not S.A.G. as i remembered
my mistake, but the PSA number was the same
UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
Ricky, son of Huggins was very nice and i got to hold the card in my hand in Chantilly, VA
I will be bidding to try to get it back in the family, and put it next to the pafko in the safe.
they spend many years glued to the same page just now they'll be in my safe
hope i win it, but $ are always a problems these days. i'm sure ill have to pay more for it now than when my brother sold it back when my Papa passed away.
thanks for the very professionalism of the Huggins and Scott auction and Ricky.
and thanks to everyones help on net54

Awesome! Was hoping when I reopened this new thread that it would be good news.

A little advice, don't buy or sell anything on the B/S/T section until the auction ends. You might tick someone off who will upbid you

FWIW, I think Brother should kick in half if he got the money in the first place. Good luck! I have used the H&S guys myself and recommend them highly.

well well well
Bad News...
I bid all the extra $ I had and still DIDNT win it.
it sold for $4500
who wouldve thought a PSA 1 would go that high.
Oh well at least I got to see it again and hold it it Chantilly, VA
but thats how it goes
Thanks again to Ricky at Huggins and Scott for all his help.
Hope who ever won it will contact me if they ever want to sell it.
Rick

Damn, sorry to hear that! I was going to post a few weeks back to show some support, but I didn't want to bump this thread and draw attention to the auction. I was hoping you'd get it. Ah well... when it's all said n' done, they're just pieces of cardboard.

Unfortunately, whoever bought it for $4,500 is going to want to sell it for a profit. If you couldn't afford it at $4,500 this time, I hope you can afford to buy it at the higher price if/when it turns back up for sale....

That stinks. In this circumstance I would see if H&S can pass your contact info on to the buyer. Perhaps if you find a nicer Mantle in the future they would be willing to trade. Or there might be other cards that they are searching for which you could obtain and work out a trade for. You finally found the card again, I would keep tabs on it as many cards reappear more quickly than you would expect.
