Default American Caramel Album

I have a friend in the UK who picks up various cards and such for me from time to time. In a recent auction, he picked up a few Kinnear jockey cards I needed and an American baseball item I have never seen before. It is black with light gold lettering. The front page says "Stars of Baseball album-National League-set of 120 leading players-15 in each of the 8 teams-American Caramel Company-Lancaster and York Pa-copyright Max B. Sheffer, Chicago-Pat.App'd for"

Inside there is a page for each team. The top states the team and the manager. There are three rows of five boxes (each the size of an E121) and the players name inside each box.

Has anyone ever seen one of these? This particular one is in pristine condition. The album is too large for my scanner.

It sounds like an album for the E120 set rather than the E121 - the E120 set is 240 cards and consists of 120 cards from each league, so that album was meant to hold the 120 cards of National League players.

I seem to remember seeing the albums at bigger shows and once in a while on EBay, but am not sure of how much they usually sell for - maybe someone else can help out with that?

I sold both the American and National League Albums about 5-6 years ago for about $400+ for the pair. They are very generic in that the players are listed by teams. There are no pictures just names in the album. I kind of wished that I kept them - you know the saying:

Wish in one hand, crap in the other and see which fills up faster...

I kind of remember the albums either being blue or black, I'm not too sure but it was one of those colors.

I bought this in a Slater's Americana auction 6 or 7 years ago. I would have to dig thru my records to see what I paid back then. I was always afraid this was some sort of newer fantasy piece because it is made of heavy paper-like construction paper.

Mine is for the American League and must be from the early 1920's because the Yankees (see scan) have Ruth and Pipp listed but not Gehrig. My album is in really nice condition with only a crease to the upper right hand corner of the front cover.

I hope this helps and gives people something to talk about.

I have one that looks just like that right in front of me except it is for the National League. Same exact otherwise. It has printing on front and back of the crate-like black paper pages where the players could be stuck in. I picked it up 3-4 years ago for a song and a dance....regards

That is exactly the item I have, but mine is National League. Any interest in selling the AL version?

I seem to remember Mastro auctioning off both albums with all the cards in them, but I'd have to go back and look at my old catalogs...I may be thinking of one of the Cracker Jack sets.
