No, your eyes don't deceive you. The 'experts' did, in fact, deem this beautiful 1975 Topps Mini #620 Gary Carter Rookie Card to be too darned off-centered for their liking (the back centering isn't an issue)...

Spelling "Yastrzemski" correctly without needing to look it up since the 1980s.

Is T/B centering not a factor?

If so, then yes, their (in-house) parameters say the image is pushed a little too much towards the bottom for them, but I can't imagine any 'normal' collector looking at the card and saying, "That's off-centered."

Yes it was, not trying to be cynical, just pointing out the insanity with centering off by a hair. I have always collected by the out of the pack condition. I cannot get the fascination of rounded corners but perfect centering is considered a better card than sharp corners but 80/20 centering. That Carter card is a great card, one I would much rather have than a dead centered 6. Just my opinion.

Anytime I pick up a decent vintage pick up at the local mall show, I'm pretty happy. Not the greatest condition, but priced appropriately.

Default September Pickups

LCS hodgepodgery, in no particular order. Though these cost some dough, I didn't spend 30 grand on a '53 Monte Irvin...

Not exciting, but exciting for me. I'm way over 90% of my vintage Topps run, so picking off high numbers is a big win for me. The Murcer I needed the white stock variant of. Is it just me or does he look exactly like Tom Tresh here?

The 61 All-Stars are one of my favorite Topps designs of any set, baseball or otherwise.

The postman left this in the box today. This finishes up my Koufax Topps run (base cards, multiplayer, leaders, World Series) for the flagship issue, 29 cards in all.

Tough to find a nicely centered copy without print marks (a black streak running vertically) and/or scuff marks. Happy with this one.

Although I posted these before, over in the Philly Show thread, it also makes sense to show them here. I picked these up on Friday:

Nice. Always loved that Kaline. Picked up a raw one earlier this year.
