player ID help requested
In the classic Hake and Steckler pinback book one player in the 1909 Buster Brown set is unidentified, as is one player in the 1909 Morton Bread set. I have spent quite some time researching the identity of these two players. I am 99% sure the unidentified player from the Buster Brown set is Fred Payne. However, I don't have as much confidence regarding the unidentified player from the Morton Bread set. I think he is Jim Delehanty. He was a replacement for an injured starter in the 1909 World Series. He played all 7 games and hit 5 doubles. The image on that pin appears to be scowling. All the images I have seen of Delehanty show him either smiling or with no particular facial expression. As such, the scowling image seems out of character for Delehanty, or it is not Delehanty. Some sources say the player is Jimmy Archer. Archer didn't play on the 1909 Tigers. Any ideas?

For sure Jim Delehanty. Also it's the same photo as used in his Tiger's Tip Top card

Swell . . .
Sometime in the recent past, the Standard Catalog stopped listing one of the pins as "Unidentified" and I see there is now a listing for Jimmy Archer. Is there actually an Archer pin in this set?

I have seen the Archer reference as well. He is not a member of this set honoring the 1909 Tigers because Jimmy Archer played for the Cubs that year.
