and others. About a month ago (I'm too lazy to look it up) we engaged in some light sparring about Pete Rose and the actions of others who went before him. As a result, I won a book on Judge Landis written by JG Taylor Spink in 1974, to further educate myself on the times. It is a very interesting book, written by one of the official scorers of the 1919 World Series, and it has a specific chapter for the Tris Speaker and Ty Cobb incident. I learned more about that, and would not have had any interest in doing so had it not been for the discussion on this board. Thanks to you guys, I'm that much less full of crap than I was before. |

Also, VCBC #1 has a very detailed 1919 newspaper account of the World Series. |
