Default 1954 Dan-Dee Potato Chips Gil Hodges PSA 8 on eBay. Reprint? Opinions please.

I found this 1954 Dan-Dee Potato Chips PSA 8 of Gil Hodges while perusing through eBay.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1954-Dan-De...sAAOSwTDdZzXPj

Upon closer inspection, this card appears to have perforated edges (as though it was a "pop-out" card from a reprint-type book).
To the best of my knowledge, the actual Dan-Dee cards came inside bags of potato chips in 1954, and although they were typically stained with oil from the potato chips, they were not perforated.

But it is possible that I am mistaken.

Opinions please.

I've had very few of these, but never noticed the perf edges before. A quick google search and I see others have them. I also have a Hodges and it too has them, they just don't show up nearly as pronounced on my card.

Here's another PSA 8 that sold at Heritage...

The perforations are normal and actually used to determine if they have been altered by some. As these can run on the smaller side, personally I like them visible to trust they have not been touched, some prefer them less noticeable.

Dear Charles, as others have stated, the perforations explicitly guarantee this Hodges' authenticity, rather than put it to question. The sheets of cards were die-cut with many tabs to allow easy detaching, and perhaps assist the individual given the task of placing a "free prize card" in each bag or large tin of Dan-Dee's delicious potato chips.

In addition, each Dan-Dee sheet was sprayed or somehow coated with paraffin to protect the cards from absorbing the potato chip grease, as well as to prevent the inks on the cards from adhering to the chips. I might add that PSA will NOT authenticate a Dan-Dee if the tabs and the paraffin coating is absent, or was stupidly removed!

So, if you want this great card of Mr. Hodges, "get on the stick" and make yourself well-prepared for dickering or just buy the beauty, one of Gil's best cards, if I may say. --- Brian Powell

FWIW, it looks like scammers have also been able to trim cards with perforated edges and get them by PSA and BGS, most notably on the Sports Illustrated 4 Kids (SI4K) Tiger Woods RC. So while the card may be real and is supposed to have the perforations, it no longer means that the card is guaranteed unaltered.
Just trying to inform, not inflame.
