Baseball sure was a gritty affair during the deadball era. Check out Chance in the center panel body slamming the first baseman, while the first baseman has his leg extended across the bag to trip up Chance.

Which makes a nice card even more interesting.

Never realized the Peerless Leader was a Cali native; I always wondered why he ended up in the PCL. Guess that explains some of it. Nice card.

My modest addition:

The T210 is from the end of last month, but I have not posted it, so here it is. The E105 Wagner was from LOTG (sucks to compete against someone you respect and loves the card as much as you)
The E90-1 Speaker is an upgrade

It is a 1912 L1 Large Leather premium of Sherry Magee. Should be a HOF.

Ryan, incredible Shoeless Joe. As for the Mello Mint Wagner, I figured you were going to pick it up.

Erick, the Ruth’s are beautiful, congrats.

A bunch of nice pick up’s by all.

The piece is a soft leather that’s about 8x10. Looks like back in the day they were pinned to the walls similar to T3s. I just have it in a hard case made for the size.

Thanks Rob Great Pickups

But for me I am going into semi retirement (unless thru trade/Upgrade Down Grade).
I broke the budget and will be regrouping.
So no new items for me for a while.....

Or at Least until the next auction

I grabbed two negro league related items. My first negro league card 1945-46 Caramello Deporivito Martin Dihigo to compliment a photo I bought a few weeks back.

Dihago 46-47.JPG

Then a AAA minor league ticket (Minneapolis Millers) from 1951 where Ray Dandridge played (at age 37).

Just got these 12 t205's from Kris19. I made my own mylar 12-pocket page out of a spare comic book sleeve. Each of these fellows has an interesting bio. Let me just say Kris is a real pleasure to deal with here at net54.

Not a biggie, but helped out by a board member. Madden played 1 game in 1910 for NYAL. He is the more obscure of the 2 Tommy Maddens in that era.

Ed awesome piece! Ellam and Molesworth are the only Barons in the T206. Ellam is mislabeled and thus an error card.

I am sure Mr. Logan (Barons owner) would love to have that in his office one day!

Enjoy this great pickup! If you ever decide to part with it let me know.

Default RPPCs

While not up there with Cobb Caramels (super cards by the way), I picked up a couple of old RPPCs.
  • The first is the Leavitt Institute Baseball Team from Turner, ME. I believe the postcard dates from c1900s.
  • I'm still trying to identify the team on the 2nd card. The card dates from 1904-1918. The letters P.N.A are written on the back. That could be unrelated. The hunt continues.

As a Memphis Chicks (Chickasaws, Turtles, Egyptians) fan, that is insanely cool! A copy of that, nicely matted and framed, would look fantastic with a period photo of old Rickwood. I just recently picked up a McGregor Goldsmith 97 Official Southern Association game-used ball, complete with box, that has a penciled notation on the box bottom that the ball is from a 1950 game between the Chicks and the Barons in Birmigham. Very, very nice pickup, sir!

New to this and seeing if this works...These are two that I picked up through the Memory Lane auction in July: my first Wagner, and my first 19th century card full-stop (had to be the Mets' first ace):

Jeremy, the E95 Honus IMO is the nicest E card ever made and yours is such a terrific example. I love his set mate Ty almost as much. But not quite.

I wonder if Madden"s smile indicates he knows he isn't going to make it in baseball but doesn't give a s#@t.
