Default old baseball photo (John Ward Newsboy cabinet)

Posted By: Shelly

Hi there, found this site while searching for info on old baseball photos. My husband and I recently acquired an old baseball photo of John Ward from an estate and we are trying to determine the best way to sell it. He is an auctioneer, but we do general, country auctions in rural VT and don't think this is something that would be appreciated. We occasionally sell on ebay so that might be an option. Does anyone have any recommendations on the best way to sell this type of item?

I would first post a scan of the image here if you can. There are many very knowledgeable people who can direct you best in selling the Ward photo such as David, etc. If it is historically significant/rare, Mastro, Robert Edwards, or another major auction house will probably be best. If not, eBay will be a good option.

I sent a scan to Bill/moderator and hopefully he can post it. The photo is old and I don't know how good the condition is considering (if you need more descrip let me know). The circle in the middle on his forearm IS actually a hole. It is some sort of photo on a cardboard backing, measures 4x6". I appreciate the help.

Okay, who's moving to VT after seeing this item?

I've included a scaled-down photo above; the one I received is much bigger and has good definition (144kb, 1266x1926 pixels). If anyone wants a copy of that, send me an email.

Bill

probably ebay is the best outlet for the card. the big auctions houses usually dont sell individual newsboys, most of the combine them into a larger lot like the current mastro auction. i believe a common newsboy in slightly better condition sold on ebay for over 1000 recently

Put it in the baseball cards Pre-1930 section ... It is both a baseball photo (cabinet card) and a baseball card, with Newsboy being a brand of tobacco ... eBay is about as good as any place to offer it.

Thanks everyone, looks like we'll probably put it up on ebay (in the next few days). I appreciate all your help.
