Default HOFer rookie cards

Posted By: Bryan

Just wondering if there is a list or a web site that lists all of the HOFer's rookie cards. Mainly looking for the pre WW2 players. I can figure the rest out on my own.

I started thinking about this the other day when I tried to figure out which card would be considered Eddie Collins' rookie card and which card is considered Dizzy Dean's rookie.

Thanks for your help,

Bryan

I picked up a 1922 Exhibit Ross Youngs at the National because I needed a card of his. Did not realize it was a rookie.

There is no definitive list of Rookie Cards, since there is no consensus as to which cards would qualify. The best listing of PreWWII cards for each HOF is maintained by Brett Domue. His site is on the Links page. You will have to decide for yourself which cards you consider to be rookie cards.

If someone spends the time to put together a somewhat complete list of rookie cards, can it be available with a link on the "links" page so that we all can use?

"Rookie Card" is such a relative term that I am not sure we could get too far with a good list. I wouldn't mind having one on the links page but it would be an inexact one...If someone has a good one shoot me an email and Brian and I can talk about how to do it.....regards

I think that the Brett Domue link that I provided earlier serves the purpose. It lists almost all of the cards of each Hall of Famer, and each person can decide for themself what the Rookie Card of each player should be.

I agree....each person needs to make their own mind up about what is the rookie card of any player. Brett's website is as good as it gets.....thanks for chiming in...

Brett's website is excellent. However, it is not very "printable" where I can have a reference list to examine at a show or while I am sitting on the can. I guess I can always bring my laptop in with me.

I can appreciate the difficulty of coming up with an "accurate list" in more of a spreadsheet, quick-reference format. There are enough debates over the rookie of a single player, let alone a whole list of them. Perhaps it is an impossible task.
