I’m working on a full-blown PSA slab made entirely of cards that will be finished this fall (different card), but I have to share this setup a client just sent me. Having 4 of the 15 slabbed copies of this Star Cal Mantle attached to the work is just beautiful. I don’t have the exact measurements, but knowing how tall the art itself is, this one must be around 4 feet tall:

Back from the National! I really enjoyed getting to meet several of you while working in Chicago, and look forward to meeting many more next year in Atlantic City. I told members of the boards I would post my progress of the Trout that I was working on at the show - so here it is:

cool to see the process in progress!

EDIT: WAIT, I just had a brilliant idea of what to do with all the altered cards from the scandal. Did you ever find yourself wanting to work with vintage cards???

Trimmed, chewed by rats, mustaches drawn on, whatever......I have no desire to cut vintage of any kind.

10 years ago, I created a crude, concept T206 Wagner from cut baseball cards, which is what started me on this journey. I finally landed the opportunity to work the Wagner again, only this time I was able to give it the attention and skill set it deserves.

SOLD.

If memory serves me correctly, you had/have work in Cooperstown, correct?

Has the Hall of Fame itself ever reached out to you to commission anything? Your talent is so unique and unbelievable, I could easily see you becoming a staple in marketing for the hobby/baseball/sports.

Thank you all! Kyle, indeed - my Koufax 55 Topps hangs in the Shoebox Treasures exhibit at the Hall. Here is an article that was done by the Baseball Hall shortly after the exhibit opened: https://baseballhall.org/discover/sh...ebox-treasures

By the way......I finally finished the Trout I was working on at the National:

My latest 2 pieces:

Banksy's Girl With Balloon (30" x 40")

1958 Mission Orange Mickey Mantle:

Also, it was a great feeling to hear Baseball Hall of Fame curator John Odell's thoughts of the Koufax piece that is in the Shoebox Treasures exhibit:

Tim I have to say I get excited whenever this thread bumps. I know I'm going to be treated to something that has nothing to do with any of the negativity in the hobby right now, and man is that a good feeling.

The power of art.

Tim,

Have any of the subjects seen your work? If so what was the reaction?

Scott, thanks so much for the words of encouragement! Several have seen it (Dawson and Vizquel even commissioned pieces after seeing other work), with the best reaction coming from Bo Jackson. I was told he took the time to go over the piece, naming players he saw throughout. He paused when he got to Kirby Puckett and said that Kirby was his friend....mumbled how he missed him. He didn't say anything directly about the art itself, but he didn't have to. It's those kind of reactions that make the difference - evoking some memories and emotion.

As for my latest piece, here you go, Joe.....the Black Swamp Find E98 Honus Wagner:

Thanks for the stories. Very cool to have gotten commissions that way. As for the Bo story, well I'll say it again, the power of art.

Tim,

I hope this doesn't screw you up too badly, as I imagine this is a commission piece, but there's a curse word on the knob of the bat...

A couple more down. Biggio was a commission (some fun news about that one later), and Lajoie was one that I've just worked on sporadically for a couple of years until it was finally finished today.

1993 Studio Craig Biggio (entire setup will be between 6 and 7 feet tall after final framing is done):

Finished this 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan commission yesterday:

I also have been working a few images of celebration (love the emotion!) lately. Here are the 2 pieces I finished just before that 86 Fleer Jordan:

very cool Tim - the Wagner hangs over my right shoulder in my office - which is fantastic given the new amount of video conferences. It must have been mentioned 50+ times by now on business calls.

I've mentioned it recently elsewhere, but reading this kind of comment gives me an even greater sense of pride in what I do. Very happy the Wagner has a perfect home!

Haha thank you. I've been married for over 20 years, so that beats out most of the other nicknames I've earned.
