Default Have you ever....

Have you ever been reading the board, then a link to a thread caught your attention...and it was a thread a mile long...with more links in it. Then you look up and just wasted 20 minutes of your life reading something that was years old and makes no difference to your life .

All the time...love that the old threads are here, really wish the images were catalogued. Some great threads and info are buried in there.

Agree! I like the old thread as well and wish the images were archived too but I do understand how much space that would eat up.

Default Hi Leon

Yep....happens to me every day on Net54. However, I try to check-out threads (and links) that are of interest to me.

And yes, they do make a difference....in that they usually are thought provoking to me.

Besides, I'm retired, so I don't view this as a "waste of time"

I know exactly what you mean.
I've had this happen countless times in many areas over many years---student papers, dissertations, committee and board minutes,etc.--- so I finally learned to read
faster and faster and quit serving as a chair or director or moderator of anything. It has helped.
Please let me add---I hope you will remain moderator for at least another 20 years or so and forgive my selfishness.
all the best,
barry

Barry,
As a fellow educator I can identify with the action of drifting from intently grading essays to reading about T206 variations as quickly as a venus flytrap engulfs its unwitting victim!

I appreciate very much your most illuminative description of the captivity
brought about by these vintage cards and photographs.
all the best,

Sounds like me on Wikipedia... only 20 minutes is actually about 2 hours.

I did this recently with the thread about what posters should come back. I ended up reading the entire thread about that Marshal guy being rude to Joann. Then I realized there was no reason for me to read the thread other than to understand what other's were talking about, but it had nothing to do with cards and I was an entire hour on it.

When I do it about card info (like I have recently been reading old e90-3 threads) I don't find that a waste of time. It would be more of a waste to ask the same old questions.
