And finally, I present to you the best looking 1.5 Koufax you'll ever see. I've no idea why it graded so low, the back is clean.

[/QUOTE]

Ok, I will see your 1.5 and present you with a challenge! Haha...There is a normally unseen front only wrinkle by the "p" in pitcher that you can see well in this camera pic, otherwise rest is clean. My back is not clean though...there are aged wax stains that I think if I popped I could clean up. I am getting quite a bit of 54, 55, and 56 SGC graded HOFers so I am keeping them encapsolated. So yeah, I think I have a pretty nice 1.5 as well!!! Picked this up at the end of April...

Purchased this in an eBay auction. I put in a "this probably won't win" bid. Surprisingly, it held up.

Matt and Andrew - thank you. Pretty sure I “overpaid” but I’ve been looking for a while and this one popped up on eBay. First one on there in a while.

Dan, did you submit any cards for the PSA Swingin Sixties special? Seeing your '65s makes me miss mine. I'll probably see them back from PSA sometime next year.

No, didn’t even know about it. I would have plenty to submit like this Marichal. I do have 175 cards with them that I sent just before the increase. I’m hoping to have them back by Xmas. 🤔

My Willie has a bit of a stain on it...huhhuhhuh...but it was nonetheless a highly anticipated mail day. The Mick is a Net54 purchase.

Default Mays and Mantle

Andrew,

Congratulations. That Mays card is one of the all-time best vintage baseball cards.

Enjoy!

Thanks! I didn't think I would find one at a reasonable price, but this one went up from a seller in Canada. Between the exchange rate and the stain, an otherwise very nice-looking card was affordable.

I've now completed Mays back to 53T and Mantle to 54B. Of course now I'm thinking...do I take the plunge on a low-grade 52T Mays and/or 53T Mantle?

After being away for a week, most people look to the faces of their loved ones to feel some warmth inside again. My approach is a bit different, as I look to the faces of the cardboard men who arrived in my absence to find a bit of solace. So psyched to knock another 1971 Topps Greatest Moments off of my list, and at a great price to boot...

Big one yesterday

Now I have the whole Pete Rose autograph run from 63-81. The rest should be easy to grab. Didn’t think I’d be able to get this one though.

Default May Pickups...

Some reasonably priced vintage at one of my two LCS's yesterday. The '53 Snider upon closer examination is about 1/16 short, but after doing a little research - it seems that's not unheard of with this set. In any event, the price was right!

Purchased raw during the height of the "Jackie Surge" for less than a PSA 1 would've been. Just got back from SGC today. I'm very pleased. (Apologies for the reflection of my hand)

Jeez, that’s a 3?? Yeah, the left and right edges are a little rough, but is there anything else that doesn’t show up in the photo?

It's a fair grade. The rough edge cut is normal on these, but there is a very light crease/wrinkle above his hat on the right side you can only see at an angle. But the card presents beautifully and has outstanding color/registration, so I think SGC got it right.

Seems harsh to me - if the rough edges are normal, then the only real flaw is a barely visible wrinkle, but that knocks it all the way down to a 3 despite being great in other aspects? For a 70+ year old card? It's like there's a competition to see which TPG can be the harshest now.

I appreciate the sentiment, believe me. But I've been hammered by PSA so hard lately that this 3 was welcome!

Default 1978 Burger King Tigers

I've had my eyes on this trio for awhile, but had not come across well centered examples of all three together until now. Very happy with this trio of Tigers rookies, from the 1978 Burger King Detroit Tigers Set - Jack Morris, Lou Whitaker, Alan Trammell.

Spent the week putting my collection on Flickr and did some back-filling of 50's-60's stuff. Lot of fun when you put your collection all together like that in one place, I've decided to name it "100 years of baseball 1885-1985" and have each decade represented.

Closed the month by going to a card show today. Only 1 dealer I saw had vintage. About half of the others were new, shiny, autographed, #d stuff, none of which I want anything to do with. The other half were sealed retail wax. Again, nothing I want to deal with.

So I chose to spend my money with the vintage guy.

Added a nice Mantle for $40. I know it's not a mainstream Mantle (base regular card) nor in good condition (probably Ex), but for $40 any Mantle from his playing days is a good deal.

Also picked up a few 62T stars for the set I'm working on. Paid $15 for the 2 Maris cards and $2.50 for each of the others. I knew I was in trouble when the guy broke out his Beckett magazine to give me pricing. But I stood there and took it like a man, haha.

Anyway thanks for the look.

Not only do you have Mantle on that card you also have Gibson pitching and two dozen CIA agents in the background keeping an eye on things.

Interestingly, Gibson didn't pitch in game 3.
