Default Domino Discs - PX7 - Net54 webpage - help requested

Posted By: Dan C

The Net54 Nonsports Card Forum (link is above)contains web
pages for nonsports items. It also creates baseball and
sports web pages to "honor" the sports side of card collecting.

Yesterday morning we started a web page for Domino Discs PX7.
Of course, we are internet searchers and don't actually have
any of these beauties.

The PX7 web page(2 days old) needs collectors of your
caliber to edit and insure it's as correct as possible.

Of course, we could use images.

http://www1.coe.neu.edu/~dan/domino/go.html

We realize we are nowhere near perfect;
your advise and/or corrections are welcome.

Roger Nisly, our image specialist emailed two Domino Discs
which has Konetchy facing left and facing right. Could that
be considered a variation ?
************************************************** ****
Thanks in advance for any help..Dan Calandriello

And here is the link for the baseball/sports webpages:

Leon, feel free to remove this posting if it's "off-topic"

Dan, every player in the Domino Disc set was produced in 2 versions. Generally one has a "skinny" face while the other has a "rounder face", but those aren't always the case, as many players are just pictured slightly different (a variation similar to those people that can be found on Large Letter and Small Letter variations in the P2 pins). So, theoretically eac player has 2 "versions" of his card.
Examples, compare
1.)your "skinny face" Bridwell (#16 on your site) to the one pictured below...(a "round face" Bridwell)
[linked image]
2.)your Hoffman (#56) to the one below...
[linked image]
3.)your McIntire (#81) to the one below...
[linked image]
4.)your "skinny face" Stovall (#112) & Wiltse (#127) to the "round face" versions below...
[linked image]

I was going to offer some pictures for the site, but I think you already have some from my website. I can offer this image (let me know if you need a larger image for better quality), it is a pretty tough accompany piece featuring the "Home Team" on one side and the "Visiting Team" on the other...

I'll add that information soon.

That's exactly why I posted. You fellows are the experts.
A baseball/sports web page is only as good as the collectors
that share (images and information).

I forgot to mention that "collector contributor credit"
is an important section of all web pages.

Dan= That's funny that you have 2 "skinny faced" Evers displayed, I have only ever seen the "fat faced" variety. Also #51 is not a PX7 Groom, it is the Sweet Caporal Groom pin displayed.

My apologies. You sent an email yesterday and I didn't respond. Of course I think this is a fine idea. I would have probably guided you towards the board for the information you were asking about anyway. We have a very diverse "card" collecting group and these pins certainly fall inside of it, imo. I just got a group of S74s graded and I think of them as sort of the same "card" collecting. Good luck in the endeavor.....

I think I've corrected the errors thus far.

As for the P2 pin, I should have picked it up.

I almost fell off my chair when I saw the duplicate images.
But I offer no excuses. Heck, I'll take a C+ anytime for a
web page like this one.

Below is our workfile, so we can visually see images that are needed.

We have approx 170 of the set's 250 images.

the "View by sport" link is not yet functional.

looking to acquire both as I am looking at a high end set. My p2 pins are on the Registry and I just started with the Domino Disks which are cool but I suspect very hard in high grade. On the ebay stores the prices can be stupid so why not try here

A couple of points. First, you might have more success posting in the B/S/T forum. Second, you should plan on being in this one for the very long haul, as there are not that many high grade discs out there. Right now, you may or may not be aware of the fact that Michael Charron has been selling his number #1 registry set on ebay, and you've pounced on about 10 or so---I know, because I bid on many of them, and my snipe service's failure to fire has saved you some $$$. Once his discs are gone--VERY soon, it will likely be a long time before you see anything other than a stray PSA 7/8 or two offered during any one month, IMHO.
