1800's Flying Dutchman Bat
Hey guys, would love your opinion on this bat.... Confirmed that it's an 1800's bat and also confirmed that it was purchased from Wagners Hometown of Carnagie, Pennsylvania..... The person who sold it swears it was a very early Wagner bat it's not bigger than 5" and has a thicker handle.... No other markings other than the "Flying Dutchman" it weights 30oz and length is 32"....
I know he would later use a 40oz bat, but is it possible that this was a bat from just before he turned pro? Any information is welcomed and I appreciate you taking the time to chat with me... I've attached pictures as well.... I'll have to send pics over a couple of threads as I can only seem to add one at a time. Have a fantastic day! He wasn't given the nickname until the 1900's I believe. Bat is too light by that point to have been used by him.
I'm not a bat expert however. Tom C |

Can you show me where it says he didn't get the nickname till the 1900's? All I can see after hours of research is that it was given to him by his team mates and he didn't sign with H&B until 1905......
