Through CardTarget.com I was able to pick up a 1933 Goudey Mel Ott PSA 8.5 for $2100. Great thing about it was I was able to purchase it little by little over 3 months. Unfortunately CardTarget does not have the Partial Shares MarketPlace anymore

Jim: Got to agree with you on the Matty cabinet. Am surprised you hadn't seen it yet. I have posted it several times. In fact I think many of the fellows are rolling their eyeballs by now. The scan is about 90% of the actual size (it's not in correct proportion to the M110). Your Mr Ewing is none too shabby neither. I do not understand this thing, how you call it?, "grading". If that's a two, I am a Dutchman.

Edited to say thanks for the E93 pop reports.

David.... For the record - I never roll my eyes when I see those scans!
My stomach gets a bit jumpy.... and I start to feel woozy... by my eyes stay still.

Your collection is incredible.
One day I would love to take a trip to paradise and hopefully get an opportunity to see it in person!

My favorite pickups of the year:

Baseball:
I was very picky about this one. I looked for a long time - trying to find 'the' one.
I wanted perfect registration.... and registration is usually off at least a little bit on this card.
Happy to have found the one I was looking for.

[linked image]

Golf:
In my eyes this is the T206 Wagner of golf cards.

[linked image]

Non Sport:
I thought I would go years before having the opportunity to grab one of these.

Great stuff, guys. Just wow...

My best baseball pickup for the year, or at least the one I liked best, was a 1925 Exhibit Champions Babe Ruth.

Can someone explain this to me:

Where Gary posted his picture I just get a red "x" and the words "linked image." I likewise get it every time Dan McKee posts a picture, as well as some other people.

Why doesn't my computer pick up the image?

Come to think of it, I think I forgot to pay my electric bill.

So which card did Gary show?

Now I can see it. It's the 1865 Nationals of Albany.

Barry, if it happens again that you get the dreaded "red x" do a hard refresh by holding down the shift key and hitting F5. That will usually cure the problem.

While I had some amazing pickups for the beer collection in 2008, the sports was a bit slow. I did manage to pick up this nice one though.

Great McGreevey, Greg!

2008 was a great year, leaving me with a difficult choice. I would say my M101-4 Duffy Lewis (Sporting News back) is number one on the list, followed by my T210-8 Berger:
