Default Baseball ticket stub resources.

So I purchased a collection late last year that included several dozen ticket stubs from the 40’s-70’s and as I’ve gotten around to listing items of the collection I’ve decided to keep the stubs and I’ve even purchased a couple more as I’m starting to enjoy them. Does anyone have any recommendations for vintage stub knowledge, dating, and authenticating?

Books? Websites? Message Boards?

Thanks all!

I agree with the other responses It also depends a lot on which teams they are from. Some collectors have "cracked the codes" for certain teams when the ticket is undated. Some teams have not been figured out and so the undated tickets can't be attached to a specific game. Do you care to share what team your tickets are from?

Mostly Cincinnati Reds tickets with the majority being home stubs from 1970's World Series runs. I've picked up most of the away tickets for the three series to complete them. I had just never collected ticket stubs until I went to list the the WS tickets and as sometimes happens, the "hey, these are actually pretty cool" factor won out. Most of the earlier generic stubs are hand dated on the back. I checked amazon hoping I could find a guide to help me navigate buying, but came up empty. For now I'm thinking about filling out World Series sets from series that really stand out to me, but who knows.

On the front page of the BR website is this statement :

"Much of the play-by-play, game results, and transaction information both shown and used to create certain data sets was obtained free of charge from and is copyrighted by RetroSheet."

I don't think it's possible to get more comprehensive than RetroSheet.

Lenny Steren of Mookie’s Tickets has been a great resource for me. I collect home and away games for the 1971 Pirates. He has been a great source of material and information.
