Default June Pickup Thread

Thought I'd go ahead and start June off with a bang. Circa 1905 Joe Tinker Moffett Studios studio photograph. Signed in red/pinkish pencil "Moffett" bottom right hand corner.

Wow Calvindog, I'd take that Altoona Tribune SGC 40 McGraw over 99% of SGC 50's, and I'd say it presents better than most SGC 60's!

Default June Pickups

Picked these up then sent them to PSA. Just got these back and I think they under graded the '57 Mantle. You can't really see it in the scan but there is 1/16" white border on the left so the card is not miscut in my opinion it is off center. The back is centered, card is clean no wrinkels - sharp corners...

These just arrived today. Thanks to Tim at Joe's Vintage for the great deal. I think both are undergraded (the Krause has a tiny tear at the bottom and the Speaker has a pencil mark on the back). Yay for me!

Picked this one up off of eBay. It's a 1903 Cabinet of Harry Howell while playing for the 1903 Highlanders. What's special about this cabinet is that it is an original photo of an original Yankee.

I picked this up last night on ebay. I all ways wanted this card, but couldn't afford the higher end prices. This is a good looking PSA 1 compared to others I have seen.

I though I got a good deal on this one.

Thanks, guys. I have been monitoring these cards for about two months, saw this card, and jumped on it. It may say PSA 1, but from the scans, it presents as a lot better than the other PSA 1's I have seen. I will let you knoe when I get it in person.

Regards,

Paul

Thanks muchly to a couple of N54 brethren for these humdingers. The JKA Wildfire is way nicer than the scan - much more grey than sepia; the '15 Zeenut Spider fills the final puka in my run from 1911-1938 (and is crying for an SGC slab).

Goodwin just wen' pau about five minutes ago. Looks like I won these nifty little obscurities.

Default Nice Pick Ups

David - That Wagner is rarely seen. Strong 2 - Beautiful !
Chris - Nice Type 1 ! Love the Coupons...

I snagged this Series 8 Frenchmen last night for the back. I have never seen a Series 3 back on a Series 8 Front. Very interesting to me... Plus, I have a Pepe (tough card) with the correct back... Still Love the T210's !!

Managed to get one card last night in Goodwin's auction. The tiny fleck of color loss which kept it at PSA 5 (2nd highest graded ever) probably saved me a ton of money.

Chris,
Nice Huggins Type 1. It is fun to watch as some cards make the circle of life between collectors. I know the last 6 owners of that card, and I am the fouth in the line of six that I know of.
He is a special one!

Hope all is well,
Bob

Thanks Steve! I was fortunate enough to pick up an E91A Plank about 2 months ago, and got lucky when the E91B came around.

I'm pretty excited about my first card of the great King Kelly . In his Beaneater days, as catcher. Love those gloves!
