Default miller brewing company packers postcards

Posted By: andy becker

i saw john (hey john) post one of these in the postcard thread.
i have tobin rote and bob forte. until john posted his, i had never seen another.
my rote is postmarked january 15, 1954. i am guessing this is a 1953 issue???
couple questions:
1. any idea how these were distributed?
2. how many are in the set?
3. were they issued autographed?
4. what year were these issued?
5. are these catalouged in any guide?

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Default miller brewing company packers postcards

Posted By: John E

Andy, I suspect that Miller Brewing Co. provided these cards to players to distribute in response to autograph requests. My card is postmarked 2/25/57 and the message reads "Thank you for writing to me. I sure do appreciate it." I saw your Forte on Ebay a few years ago, but these are the only 2 I am aware of.

Default There is another ...

I brought this thread back from the "dead" because I wanted to ask if anyone else has found any other Miller Brewing Company postcards. I know this thread specifically mentions the Packers, but I found another "Miller Brewing Company" postcard. This one is of Don Kindt CHICAGO BEARS. (See scans below) It was an ebay purchase that is not yet in hand, so pardon the ebay scans.

Kindt retired from professional football in 1955. However, this postcard is postmarked 1966. This particular card contains a handwritten note on the back from Kindt addressed to an acquaintance. When I read the note, I got the impression that Kindt "found" an old postcard he may have been given from his playing days and sent it to his friend. This would make sense as Kindt retired in 1955.

I have one other Miller Brewing Company postcard—Tobin Rote—that is postmarked January, 1954 (scan on my "newborn" imageevent site, please see link in sig). According to this thread (dated 2007), there is one other Miller Brewing Company postcard (Forte). Have others been found since then, and if so, are they catalogued anywhere?

Also, if anyone has a Forte to sell, I'm buying... =)

Thanks for the help in advance.
Alan
