SGC also uploads nice scanned images of your cards to their site after they slab them. You might be able to use those scans before you even get the cards in hand. If you log into your account and click on the link below, it will have a link to your scanned images folder.

Thanks, they are being overnighted so I assume I'll have them in hand by Friday.

The cards will be “seller ready” but unfortunately there will be no one “buyer ready “

Default Grading Decline

Is it me or anyone else receiving what we would call under graded cards back? Specifically cards from 1969 or earlier. Since this pandemic plagued grading fiasco where the grading companies were forced to hire more graders I have personally noted this decline.

Tony, SGC has been around for many years and I've been buying/selling since Day 1 with their slabs. Throughout the years, they have maintained consistency, good customer service, a fast graded product, and a knack for weeding out trimmed and doctored cards. You may have a had a batch of bad luck or timing but overall, SGC is spot on. Most of the time!

I've always thought SGC graded the toughest out of any of the TPG's, and are the most consistent as well.
They are not perfect, but I believe they are the closest to that.

I, too, have been using SGC for many years but a recent sub of only three cards left me scratching my head. I will play the game of guess the grade . I will try to upload the cards in question later today under a separate thread.

Around when the pandemic started in 2020, SGC lost the script on a lot of things - particularly centering - which may have been related to the hiring of new graders. (?) I got a couple of '72 cards in 5's and 5.5's where the grade was clearly tied only to centering - they were NM or better cards otherwise - and it's like nobody taught the graders the difference between 85/15 and 65/35. The latter does not deserve a downgrade to EX range or lower if otherwise a pack fresh card. Yes, all graders make mistakes but realistically we are talking hundreds or thousands of dollars difference in some cases with the more pricey cards. It's expected, but also extremely frustrating. I'm not sure if SGC has resolved that particular tendency around centering yet or not. I've been loathe to send them any more cards since they later returned me Mantles in slabs with plastic shards sticking into the edges of the card.

Ugh, so entered Post Grading on 11/10 and still no grades let alone my overnight shipment arriving by today. Guess they'll hold until next Pre War auction.

I've noticed this as well. Even PSA has abandoned their published centering standards since the pandemic began. Both have moved the goalposts on us.

centering has clearly gotten tougher. what baffles me about centering is that it is the only category that is scientific, and should be consistent. I doubt the graders even bother to measure - it is all done by eye.

+1 Agree and a little scary especially when talking about how it effects the grading and thus the value to some people
