Default Raw 1964 Mickey Mantle...

I bought this 1964 Mickey Mantle for $15 sometime in the mid-late 1980s at a card show in a mall that no longer exists. I've kept it in a sturdy holder ever since. I've often thought of getting it certified, but that hasn't happened. Its off center so that would bring it down a notch or two anyway. I may just hang on to it since I've had it for so long. I also bought a 1966 Mantle that same day, I think for $8, though in rougher condition. It seemed like so much money back then for cardboard.

Centering could still get a PSA 7 or so, but the surface wear on back (diagonal lines on left side?) could push it down into the PSA 2-3 area if those are surface wrinkles. Or if they're light pencil marks, it could get like a PSA 6 (MK) and sell for around a PSA 4 price.

It appears I made the mistake of photographing the card in its holder - those lines appear to be shadows from scratches in the holder, not on the card. If I hold the card in a light at an angle they vanish from the card completely. I should take it out of the holder and get photos. The holder has a load of little scratches on it right over that area and elsewhere. It's apparently seen quite a bit of action.

Ah, then you've got a great looking card that you should get graded.

Centering isn't perfect, but it's actually not that bad. I'd take that one in a heartbeat. Looks like an EX card to me. Maybe a PSA 4 if graded.
