Default Bobblehead help...

I recently found a booth at an antique store that was full of bobbleheads. He was asking $25 for some and $10 for others. A few looked like Repros and some looked old. My question is how do you tell the difference between the two? Is there a secret? These two I bought because they both looked old to me but not 100% sure. The Twins one looks to be painted over and has a Japan stamp on bottom. Please forgive my ignorence on the subject and any help or comments is greatly appreciated. Brandon

Default RE. Bobblehead Help

The nodder on the left appears to be a 1980's Twins Enterprises First issue doll. These are somewhat collectible and sell in the $40-60 range. There were made with both a player holding a ball and one holding a bat, with the ball variety being a little scarcer. The nodder on the right appears to be a 1970's wedge base doll from the appearance of the base, but usually these dolls had a "sad" appearance. I would agree that the coloring looks off for both the face and the base, but not sure on this one. Wedge bases usually sell in the $100-125 range, depending on the team.

Thanks Joe...sounds like for $10 and $25 they are not bad buys which is what I was wondering. There were a bunch of football ones as well. I might try to shoot the guy an offer on the lot of them. Thanks again, Brandon

Brandon: I should add that even though most of the wedge bases sell in that range, there are a couple (don't remember which ones) that are very rare and have sold for upwards of $1k. I would suggest the Nodder Exchange website (my favorite) for reference.

my first love is nodders, and Joe's comments are right on. Nodder Exchange is a good reference place. a few in my collection came from there.

I have a green base Giants doll lurking in my curio cabinet that I picked up maybe 10 years ago. It's the sideways hat version, which is the head I like the best.

Default Empty Bobblehead boxes

Sorry to revive my own dead thread, just have another question that i'm having problems finding the answer to. Just found a booth that has around 20 different empty bobblehead boxes w/no bobbleheads. I was wondering if these are desirable at all to collectors? Most of the boxes had circa 1968 I believe and some of the teams I remember are : Baltimore Colts, Kansas City Chiefs, NY Mets, NY Jets, etc... Thanks for any help just wanting to know if these are somewhat rare. Regards, Brandon

Thanks for the help Barry, I think the whole lot of them would be around $20 so not too bad just wish he had all or at least some of the dolls.
