This came out of the old Milwaukee County Stadium, I love how the name/number is hand painted (the 1973 press photo shows the nameplates in the background)....

Bill, that locker room name tag is amazing. Cool you have the press photo. Keep me in mind if you stop liking it. Incredible piece. Would love to hear how that one found you. Thanks for sharing.

Default Brooks Robinson - Wine

Day 261 – 18 September 2024
I am not much of a wine drinker but when I do indulge, why not include Brooks Robinson. You can zoom in on the photo to see the details.

Default Brooks Robinson Replica Mini Gold Glove with Signature

I will not likely ever find one of Brooks Robinson’s Gold Gloves but here is a replica with his signature and “16 Gold Gloves” inscription. This mini glove displays nicely.

Default 1950s - 1960s Miscellaneous Oriole’s Pennants

Day 263 – 20 September 2024
We’ll see how this goes but for the next couple weeks I will display Oriole Pennants from the 1950s through Brooks Playing Days till the 1983 WS. Today, here are a few Pennants from the 1950s and 1960s. I enjoy the color variations. My favorites are the small Black one to the left and the Orange one 3d from left. I also like the 1954 Scroll Pennant featuring the first year players. The scroll pennant is pretty hard to find. Hope everyone will enjoy the pennants.

I wanted to share this snap I grabbed from the Philly show. It shows Billy Hunter in the Os Inaugural season of 1954, his only year as an oriole actually. Billy is still alive at 96 today.

I've found being a collector of snaps that the Orioles during the 50s are probably the toughest to find of any team. Maybe because they were a new team and all. But I believe this is my first of an O from the 50s. If you have any old Os snaps available please lmk. Hope you all enjoy.

Thanks for sharing; love the snap of Billy Hunter. Even though he was a coach when I was growing up he still was one of my favorites.

I probably have a few O’s snaps stored in boxes “somewhere”. I’m probably not like most guys here that are at least somewhat organized. Of course we even have the OCD collectors with their organizing skill and prowess (hope to be like that when I grow up someday, but not today…).

Today, I am showing you the 1962 Pennant featuring the Orioles Team Photo but now it has the year felt addition saying 1962. I really enjoy this Pennant version through 1974. The Hartzell Bird at the top is pretty cool.

Default Pennants

I used to get pennants as a kid and had them in a circle around my ceiling and one on the wall. Mainly picked them up at O’s games at Memorial and tried to get the pennant of the other team they were playing as well to display. I had stuff everywhere in my room (do still have my Brooks SI Poster with tack holes all over the place). Of course most of my pennants have been lost or disposed of over the years. Charlie’s pennants, that he’s posting, are almost making me want to start collecting these all over again.

Great pieces, with the pennants and other brooks items being shown off the ball is really rolling. Here is another one I got from the Philly show, a 1969 special parking pass.

Default 1965 Baltimore Orioles Pennant and Brooks Robinson Memorial

Day 269 – 26 September 2024
Today I am showing you the 1965 Pennant featuring the Orioles Team Photo.

I would be remis if I did not mention today marks the 1 year anniversary of Brooks Robinson’s death. He died on 26 September 2024 at the age of 86. I attended his memorial ceremony at OPACY a few days later. I was sad to see there were no programs at the Memorialbut did save my bottle cap from the service at the Yard. Look at the shelf display to left. The memorial was very nice. Today I am Including some pictures from the Memorial and my top shelf in my curio cabinet dedicated to Brooksie to include the bottle cap I saved from his Memorial.

Day 270 – 27 September 2024
Today I am showing you a few Orioles Pennants from their first WS. You will see the popular blue Dodgers Vs. Orioles pennant in the middle. This is a classic. The two on either side celebrate the play offs and WS. The two on the ends feature the team photo and the WS and AL Championship. I am also showing a smaller pennant with the player names and the photo pennant without WS Champ felt scroll. I recently found this other smaller pennant without the player names.

Bomb ‘em, Birds! is my favorite even though the others are really nice.

Oh, the curio shelf is off the charts cool…

Lucas,

I have a couple of the O’s Parking passes. They are not that large and I think they make for a neat display.

Was going through some things this weekend and ran across this package I had rec'd from ESPN's Bob Ley after I had written him in September of '98 shortly after Cal Ripken Jr.'s consecutive game streak ended.

ESPN had done a special titled "He Came to Play" hosted by Ley on 09/22 & I had written him for a copy of the script used in that show:

Bill, nice post on Minor replacing Cal. I always felt bad for him trying to fill Cal’s shoes but worse for Doug DeCinces for some reason. Thanks for sharing.

Default Baltimore Orioles 1970 Pennants

Day 274 – 1 October 2024
My favorite Orioles team is featured today with multiple pennants celebrating the 1970 WS Champions. Starting at the bottom is a white pennant saying 1970 World Champions. Above it, is one of my favorite pennants in Orange celebrating the Orioles as the 1970 AL Champions. In the middle is the typical photo pennant with the Orange felt scroll celebrating the WS Champions. Above the photo pennant is two variations of the Orioles scroll 1970 AL Champions.

Default Baltimore Orioles 1971 Pennants

Day 275 – 2 October 2024
1971 provides a few more Oriole Pennants. Starting at the bottom is scroll pennant with 1971 in white but mentions Our Champs 1972. I really like this pennant. Above the black pennant is three scroll pennants celebrating the Orioles as the 1971 AL Champions. Next, is the typical photo pennant referencing the 1971 WS. The top Pennant references the Orioles as the 1971 World Champions. How many hearts were broken in 1971 by Roberto Clemente.

I was driving through Delaware and I stopped for gas when a guy strikes up a conversation with me because I was wearing an Orioles shirt. We started talking about the Orioles and I told him Brooks was my favorite player. He reaches in his pocket and pulls out a Brooks/Eddie bat pen from All Star Dodge and Chevy. I told him I collect Brooks memorabilia and he proceed to give me the pen. He said he found it at a flea market last week. What a nice surprise!
Didn’t think I would wake this morning, and be handed a piece of Brooks memorabilia at 7:30 in the morning at a Wawa gas station in Delaware while passing through.

Very cool, Scott. I remember the slogan but not the pen. Thanks for sharing.

Default Baltimore Orioles 1979 Pennants

Day 282 – 9 October 2024
Today I am showing a couple 1979 Oriole Pennants. The bottom one mistakenly refers to the Orioles as the World Champions. I attended Game 6 at Memorial Stadium suffering through that miserable loss. The top Pennant I really like with the Pirates and Orioles celebrating the WS.

Day 283 – 10 October 2024
Today I am sharing a few more Oriole Pennants. These are from the 1983 WS Champion Orioles. At the bottom, the Pennant Celebrates the Orioles as the World Champions. The next one, in white Celebrates the 1983 Playoffs between the Orioles and the White Sox, listing both team players names. The middle pennant list the Orioles Players as the World Champs. The Orange Pennant celebrates the WS Champs showing our manager (Joe Altobelli)…always made me sad that Earl Weaver did not get credit for this Championship. The top Pennant is white and lists the players names celebrating the Orioles as the AL Champs and playing in the WS.
