Default N300 Mayo Shindle Question - 1895?

Posted By: Joann

The N300 set inlcudes W. Shindle (Brooklyn)and was published in 1895. But baseball-reference.com says his debut wasn't until October 1886, and no affiliation with Brooklyn until 1894.

Can anyone shed light on this? Was there something he did w/Brooklyn in 1885 that merited a card? I'm thinking he couldn't have had a player role, or bb-ref would have listed his debut as such.

Thanks for the info.

Joann

You answered your own question Joann. That is, N300 is an 1895 issue, not 1885, so being shown with Brooklyn is as it should be.

Default N300 Mayo Shindle Question - 1895?

Posted By: Joann

hahaah. Oh HELL no. I could NOT figure that out - and I knew it had to be something really simple. I was thinking 1895 card and 1896 debut. Off/midread by 10 years. Duh.

Oh well - here's my ignorance on display for all!

Thanks Joe, for clearing it up. What's really sad is that if you hadn't, I might have wondered about this for a very, very long time.

J
