Default Any Zeenuts at the National ????

Posted By: Alan

And for those who went to the National, anyone see any Zeenuts - particularly Syd Cohen, Ike Danning, and Harry Rosenberg for sale ? Just curious. Thanks

Alan- Zeenuts were very scarce. I bought a 1911 from a dealer and that was the only one he had. I think Scott B. had one 1911. Marty LNU brought a collection of 1911s and 1912s he had just bought. Tim Newcomb and I each bought about 10. They were probably a tad overpriced and has writing (some of them) on the back but the fronts were nice. That's it. I didn't see any more. I bought a D311 from Scott B. and had it graded in a GAI 3 holder. I also picked one up from Brian McQueen when I got home. They are very tough. Tim N. picked up one from Scott, his last one, which I already had and was a sharp card. PCL regionals have dried up.

On Wednesday night. I purchased 8 1930 and 1931 "commons" in real nice (ex or better) condition. I concur that there were virtually no Zeenuts at the show, BUT I also noted that there was a paucity of West Coast dealers too. I think next year will bring out a lot more PCL regional stuff in Anaheim.

I think I saw the same grouping you were talking about as I was looking to pick up a 1911 Criger as a type..

One of them had the writing on the back that you referred to and the other was cleaner but the dealer wanted just a bit more money than I wanted to spend at the time so I passed.

I agree with the general consensus, though, that there weren't a lot around.

Scott

Wednesday night and a few more on Thursday many with writing or stamps on back. I am trying to get a vg/ish card for each team year and picked up about 50. Also trying to get one with a coupon for each year and only got one.

Guess I should have qualified my statement with the fact that I didn't get to the show until late Thursday afternoon....

Looks like there were more than I saw but they had already been picked through.

I can only recall going through two or three stacks of them, and one of those was a handful of beaters. Even if there were 100 cards available at the show, that's only 1 card per 6-8 tables.

picked up the only six Home Run Kisses I saw on Wednesday night. Aside from those, didn't see any hoardes of Zeenuts.

3-4, Harry Krause and a couple others. Remember one guy that someone spoke of earlier with the 1911's and 1912's. Verkman has a Koenig with coupon that was creased but o/w EX for $800. A guy with Colabella (Football guy) had about 30 or so in VGEX to EX. The guy I bought my 3-4 from had about 12 or so that were in G/VG condition. Other than that, few and far between.

About the same for the T209, T210 and T211's....except for Jay's satchel.....

Richard- I am shocked you found 6 Home Run Kisses! Do you recall where you found them? I swear I must have hit every table at least 3 times during the show, tracking and backtracking, and never saw a single one. Did you find them early Wednesday night? Can I ask the condition and price of each?

The newlywed from New Jersey whose table was across from the rear snack bar near the Brockelman/Luckey watering hole. They were SGC 50-60, two lesser, but all looked nice. Sticker price was around $500 each, but when I started puddling up, he cut me a deal. It was early Wednesday night.

Yes, great pickup. I started at the other end of the hall and didn't make it to Leon's and Scott's area until closing Wednesday night so I completely missed them.
