Edited because I spewed forth meaningless dribble and needed to retract it

MW - why is this not in an SGC or PSA holder? I have a load of blank-backed cards from the early '60s that were hand-cut from a sheet, which is why SGC rejected them. I would think that SGC would grade these Maris cards as long as they weren't hand-cut.

When creating a set, the artists/printers sometimes had several potential cards for a player. Sometimes the variations would be involve the image, once in a while the team if a player moved. The Maris is legitimate and valuable. There also is a similar and rarely seen 1977 Topps card showing Reggie Jackson as a Baltimore Oriole.

Do you know if this is something PSA would encapsulate as "Authentic" or would they just reject the card as trimmed (or hand-cut)?

Mine is graded PSA Authentic, and I've seen others with similar grade. Centering on this card is usually pretty awfu (95-5), MW's has the best centering of the dozen or so I"ve seen.

I also have seen the card in a PSA 'authentic' holder.
