Sure, it's just an A, but it looks pretty good for an A, and I got it for an A price. So I'm willing to overlook the fact that it's had a haircut.

Default Latest addition to the revised Howe McCormick collection

While a lot of Howe’s cards have been available of late, the majority of them were either dupes I had sold off, or cards I already had an example of. But not this guy.

There are still about 146 cards that I either missed when Scott was selling off the lot from last years Goldin Auction, or cards that we haven’t seen with the stamp. There were five in the most descent REA auction in a lot of 69 or so stamped cards I don’t have, if you happen to have been the winner of that lot, I would appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks.

BIG thanks to Patrick on T206 OM Brown. "Funny" card --- Long ago I put this combo in the "I don't think I'm going to get this one" category. To tell the truth, I almost forgot it existed ..............................

Also Bobby came through with the T207 Johnson .............. "Worst image ever" ............

Won a pretty nice Collins IndyBrew in the last REA, and got around to scanning it:

Not quite pre-war, but I thought it was interesting. It appears to be a Tigers Team Issue Postcard of Hal Newhouser, autographed. Postmarked 1948. Newhouser has so few cards so I was happy to add this one to my collection.

Default n162

I picked up 39 of the non-baseball N162’s. Leaves me with one baseball and three others to complete the set. This has to be among the best looking sets ever. Always feel like its inadequate to only have the baseball subset, especially when the others are generally more reasonable to be had. Have done the same with T3s with the boxers. Also can get the albums for these, those are gorgeous too and not very pricey.

This group is simply gorgeous, and graded low by SGC’s new grading system mostly due to minor back issues which are mostly some slight paper loss which is hard to notice, or light staining on the back. A sample of four from the group.

Default RPPC Cobb

Ty Cobb postcards are highly collectible, and gaining in popularity along with value every year. RPPCs are starting to come into play for postcard collectors as they are unique and it’s rare to find multiples of the same image. I was fortunate enough to pickup this 1916 RPPC (bottom picture) with a crystal clear image of the Georgia peach. It makes a great addition to my 1910 tour of Cuba RPPC (top left picture). The other card (top right) is a from a series of cards issued by the Hubel hotel and few are known to exist.

Default May Pickups

Ticked off a couple of T206 HOF’ers at the Dallas Show yesterday.

Was able to get my first Sovereign back at what I thought was a steal for a low grade raw HOF’er in Miller Huggins. It’s off to SGC.

Congrats, I was at Memory Lane booth in April I think when you got the call to know this was up for grabs, if I remember correctly. Congrats wonderful card. Huge addition!

Also picked up Phila A's with Mack at center, another scarce M101-2 team card, joining Cubs and Tigers. Very tough to find and in this condition. Double-sized, hence the fold.

Cool cabinet cards. The one on the left is identified as Pat Donovan. There was a Patsy Donovan who played for 21 years in the majors and various leagues, starting in 1886, but not for Baltimore. Does this photo of a late 20's, early 30's Patsy, shown below on the far right during his time with the Pirates, resemble the younger looking fellow in the cabinet to anyone else? Or am I just pushing the photo identification a little too far?

Brian, I'm the last person to comment on photo identification, however, when I was looking at these I also found a composite that uses headshots from these that was sold by REA back in 2011 (https://bid.robertedwardauctions.com...e?itemid=19698). The composite itself identifies each player. REA further identifies that Donovan played for Pittsburgh. The thing to note here is that the California tour was not simply Baltimore vs others, but the Baltimore team consisted of a few players that were not from the Baltimore team and likewise some Baltimore players were absent.

Nice! That explains the San Francisco photography studio listed on back and why Patsy is in a Baltimore uniform. Great link to the REA auction, which has a very informative writeup that explains it all, and makes these cabinets you now have even more special.
