Default 1888 John L. Sullivan Spaulding & Merrick Boxing Card #7 N386

Need some help with respect to this boxing card. 1888 John L. Sullivan Spaulding & Merrick Card #7 N386 boxing card that is up for sell on Ebay. I know the year is wrong it is a (1889). Does anyone know how rare this card is an possible the value? Any information that you know would be extremely helpful to me regarding this card. Thank you, Tommy

Rare, but their value is spot on... Maybe even a bit high.

I'm sure our own Adam Warshaw might be able to give you a very authoritative answer to this question. I would add that there is also this variety of the card which I guess is the true 1889 Spaulding & Merrick version. I don't own the card but had saved this picture. Not sure which card is rarer.

That particular card's been offered quite a few times for sale though I haven't seen it recently. With the back basically skinned off or otherwise damaged I think it is substantially overpriced.

Mr. Warshaw I purchased your latest edition of the America's Great Boxing Cards and I think very highly of your book. Thank you for making this available to enjoy and research vintage boxing cards. Is there any type of price guide with respect to vintage boxing cards available for sell?
