Default Help a newbie on this Vintage Williams photo...

Not even sure if I'm in the right forum or not. Bought this piece not to long ago because it looked so much like his '49 Leaf card and really don't know much about it. The sig is PSA/DNA certified but I am really interested in the photo itself. Any insight is greatly appreciated. Is it worth sending to PSA or whoever to have them look at it?

***Added a Leaf Williams pic for reference. NOT MINE ***

Thanks,

Joel

What's on the back of the photo? Can you provide a scan?

No writing or stamps that I can see. I don't have a back scan at the moment.

Thanks for the response.

It's hard to say without holding the photo in my hands, but based on the slight lack of detail in the image, it is probably a second generation photo. But, even if it is determined not to be a first generation photo, it may still be "vintage" (old), depending on the paper. If it is truly blank backed, I would not spend the money to have the photo graded, but perhaps get other people's opinions here.

Ladder, I don't have any magnification to look that closely. Upon looking at the back there is a small KC in the upper left hand corner. COuld have easily been put there recently though.

I agree, at first glance I thought it was the original for his 1948 Leaf card. Not quite, but very close.

Nice photo anyways.

It the photo is vintage, that would likely add value but not enough to justify getting an LOA for the photo itself. You just need someone to look at it to judge if its old or original or what.

Just looking at the image here, if it's a real photo it does look as if it could be old or older, with the sepia borders. Most recent photos will have bright white borders.

If you wanted, you could send it to Beckett and they would holder it for you with label for the photo. They'd be able to determine if it was vintage versus new. At the least, you'll get your autographed photo in snazzy holder.
