Perhaps it may be better to recreate the the b&w set with alternate color photos rather than recoloring them. There have been some nostalgia-type 53 Bowman card sets that look fairly good and a version was created for one of the National Convention. (I am not counting the TCMA color set, they look ghastly.) Start with #161 and make sure to make some alteration to the reverse side as to indicate they are not authentic 53 Bowman Color cards. The sample and prototype cards could be reproduced as well as part of the extension.

The Saturday Evening Post labeled him the "The Ballplayer Nobody Wanted" but became a very popular player with teammates and fans and was a key player in the Wiz Kids NL pennant in 1950 and voted the top Phils catcher of all time in 1969 by Phils fans. He and Dick Sisler would sometimes fake heated arguments in a hotel lobby or sit at the opposite ends of a lobby couch and continually cross their legs in different directions at the same time

Walter E. "Walt" Masterson III. Pitcher with the Washington Senators in 1939-1942 and 1945-1949. 78 wins and 21 saves in 14 MLB seasons. 2-time All-Star. His best season was 1947 with Washington as he posted a 12-16 record with a 3.13 ERA in 253 innings pitched. He finished his career with the Detroit Tigers in 1956. He started the 1948 MLB All-Star game for the American League.

My dad could not stand Wilmer. Not sure why but I remember attending two games with Dad when Wilmer pitched and he grumbled the entire game. Wilmer was a decent pitcher and a conservative elected after baseball to Congress in North Carolina. His 53 Bowman card does look like he may be emerging from the Dark Side
