Default Question about 1921-23 National Caramel E220 cards...

Posted By: Dustin Thompson

I have recently purchased some really nice vintage cards (and modern) from a man that just recently inherited a HUGE collection from his grandfather. Well, there was an odd Ty Cobb card in there that I thought was just junk -mainly because I had never seen one and it looked like something that was cut out of an old magazine - so I passed on it. Very thin paper, but in good condition. When I got home, I typed in Cobb National Caramel on eBay and saw one PSA 1 in completed. I have found the sizes of these cards, but I really need to know the thickness or at least what type of paper. I have picked-up some nice cards from this man, and I really doubt this card to be a reproduction, I just thought it to be cut from a magazine or something...oh well. It is still there, and I could get it with no problem. Thanks, and email or post with any answers or help. Also, some of the vintage I picked-up from this gentleman are (all are for trade/sell - large scans of front and back are:

1933 Goudey BENNY BENGOUGH rc (# 1)

1952 Bowman WILLIE MAYS (# 218)

1953 Bowman Color MICKIE MANTLE (# 59) - I have two, but one is really rough.

1954 Topps HANK AARON rc (# 128)

1954 Topps AL KALINE rc (# 301)

1955 Topps SANDY KOUFAX rc (# 123)

1956 Topps MICKEY MANTLE (# 135)

1957 Topps MICKEY MANTLE (# 95)

Thank you for your time.

Default Question about 1921-23 National Caramel E220 cards...

This post you made is really a cross between finding out info and selling cards. Please be very careful about posting cards for sale on this main forum. That sort of stuff really goes in the Buy/Sell/Trade links. As for the National Caramel cards they are similar to E121 American Caramels but on a little bit thinner stock (I believe, as I don't have any with me at work). A nice vg Cobby is probably in the $1300-$1900 range. This is one of the sets that really is undervalued imo. Good luck....(and yes, if it's a National Caramel Cobb and you can get it for a good price you should)

Thanks, and I made a few changes to my post. As for the thickness, what would you say? I think I am going to pick-up the Cobb...even though he is a MGR. on this card, I think it would be a nice addition to my PC. Thank you again.

Thank you for your time.

The E220s are far scarcer than the American Caramel cards of that era. Pick it up, it would easily be the best card of the bunch you listed.

PS. Cobb was a Player/Manager in that era (common), and still hitting well over .300 every year (1921-1927...389 .401 .340 .338 .378 .339 .357)
