Default Anyone ever deal with John Cummings...

aka Johnny Ramone of the Ramones. He passed away yesterday but was a huge baseball history freak who apparently had quite a collection. Anyone ever deal with him?

No, but I once saw the Dead Kennedys' Jello Biafra at a comics & card store in St. Louis trying to finish his 1975 Topps Mini set.

Jello Biafra is an interesting guy, but I didn't know he collected. I hung out with him a couple of times after DK shows.

Actually I was just making a joke ... I was recently walking in my neighborhood and saw a pair of about 12 year old girls with one wearing a DK T-shirt. I got a kick out of it, but didn't know if that should make me feel young or old.

By any chance did he have an ebay nam? If so, what was it? Do you know what he collected.

It's pretty neat to think that Johnny Ramone was a baseball nut that collected memorabilia - it kind of puts a more human face to the musician. On another "note" it's sad to see another hobbyist depart.

He left his collection to his dad, Kevin.

I used to see him at all the National Pastime shows here in NYC in the 1980's and 90's. You couldn't miss him with his distinctive haircut, leather jacket and heavy boots.

I was listening to Stern today and they mentioned that he had sold off a lot of his collection recently to help support his wife.

I feel old...

I didn't deal with a Ramone, but being in LA, I've occasionally sold an item to a celebrity. I sold a 1967 Willie Mays card to Raiders HOFer Willie Brown. Leonard Maltin bought a 1960's entertainment ticket from me (I think it was the Steve Allen show). I also had Jonathan Winters insult me at a show when he was trying to buy an original Chuck Jones-signed Warner Bros. animation sketch of Wile E. Coyote from me and I wouldn't cut the price for him. I also had the pleasure recently of seeing Leonard Nimoy's personal office (a client is his landlord); talk about a lot of memorabilia...
