Default Where do you buy your Vintage?

More of a general state of things type question. In the recent past 6 months, currently and moving forward in the short term, where are you spending the majority of your hard-earned dollars when looking for vintage?

For myself, I'm a set builder and I start between Greg Morris Cards and the Battersbox eBay stores.

So far, the poll suggests what has been discussed in here for some time. FB Groups and Shows are struggling to be what they once were. FB Groups albeit only over the past 1/2 decade.

A relatively even split between ebay, N54, and Heritage.

Facebook groups not on my dance card. Too many charlatans and shit kickers. At least we have a vigilant traffic cop running the show here. Thanks Leon. To me Facebook is the wild west.

Now if you excuse me I need to get back to my beautiful 20 year old Ukrainian girlfriend on Facebook. Apparently she needs more money.

I would say I have bought/traded for most of my vintage cards for several years from fellow Net54 members.

I’ve been getting most of my cards at shows and LCS’s. Greg Morris is my main go to online.

If I told you where I find vintage, there won't be vintage there for me to find next time.

I mostly agree with the first part. The only exception I'll make is when an eBay seller I trust also has a Facebook presence. At that point, though, I'm not really "shopping" on Facebook. I'm more or less using it as a way to save us both a little money.

Regarding the second part, I literally laughed out loud.

one of the reasons I buy less from them are two fold. They tend to ask for a higher dollar amount than the card is worth. 2nd, fear of being scammed.

I prefer to buy from an auction as I know I am paying fair markey value.

BTW what did your 1915 88 go for? What did you actually get compared to what you were asking?

Most of my collection comes from antique shopping. I regularly go to antique shops, flea markets, and antique shows. I am amazed at what is still out there waiting to be found. My favorite antique event is the Brimfield antique show. It is coming up in a week and a half. A few thousand antique dealers come to Brimfield MA for a week. It is difficult to find reasonably priced cards but memorabilia and ephemera is reasonably available. Last year I found a 33 All Star scorecard with Ruth pictured on the cover, some color transparencies of 1960s players, a full woman's basketball uniform from circa 1915, an 1891 schedule booklet with woodcuts of Boston AA and NL teams, and more.

I have a very specific, odd, curated, and diverse want list. Items I am after do not come up often and in the last few years mostly come up via auction houses. Some pop up on eBay and a few via private sale, but majority are AH. I posted an article a few weeks ago about a few of them that showed up in one auction. I went 2 for 4.

Gotta give a shout-out to Love of the Game for this beauty, which has been on my want list for a very long time:
