These came yesterday. I had to take some pictures as I will never see a sight like that again. A big thanks to Sean Skeffington at Sgc for all your help.

Oops, this was supposed to go in the new pickups thread. Sorry

It was a blast. It's too bad my kids can't go to college now.

Leon, if you would, please delete this as I have now posted on the correct thread.

I am pretty sure this was an original collection, all piedmonts. Still trying to track down more information on the original collector. I purchased these from someone who inherited them from an estate in Kentucky. Out of the cards submitted to Sgc, 5 came back as SML (too small to holder), unfortunately, one of them was the green Cobb. I should have resquested to have it holdered AUTH.

I think this was worthy of its own separate thread!

As for the green Cobb, I would try to see if GAI, PSA or BVG will holder it with a number b/f you seek an authentic holder.

Martin--I'm guessing that Budweiser had to be extra-good when opening those! I'm sure
SGC will "gratis" Cobb as "AUTH" for you...don't think you'd want to holder it
in anything else? Great cards...congrats on your find!

...of when I had my last group of 200 T206 cards graded by SGC for $5.00 a card at their bulk rate at the time. It was awesome getting all of those back. And you sort of make me miss my (by now, long gone) set...

Congrats!

Question:

With such a large submission I was wondering how you felt the T205's were graded overall........ harsh or forgiving?

Matt

Martin- were these cards part of a new find, or was this your personal collection? Great stuff either way.

Martin --in the photo it looked like you had one T210 --would you identify the card, the series and the grade? ---did you submit more than one T210? Thanks for sharing !

Martin
Just looking at this picture really makes me want to convert my PSA stuff over to SGC. The cards are awesome by the way. You can tell that SGC cares about getting the cards to you safely. They have wrapped them in bubble wrap and carefully placed them in the box. The holders look like not one scratch or broken corner and all shiney. What a collection you have!

Shane

Bill, there were 20 t210s in the group. I sent in all the series 8s. I already had the Landgraff. The others are mostly series 2.

Barry, This was a lot on Ebay about 2 months ago. They were asking 50 thousand which I and most everyone else on Ebay thought was too much. Since they were located only a little over an hour away I drove to Chesterfield (near Richmond) to look at them. Even though getting them back from Sgc was exciting, I got to admit, going through them at the bank was a real blast. I may have offered them more money or we had a really good repore (that's what I like to think) anyway, we came to an agreement. I know they had other offers and I think Mr. Mint had been there. What they really liked was the fact that I am a collector. At least I will be a collector of the majority of them. I will probably sell around half of them.

Matt, I sent in about 45 cards of this lot to Psa and they both seem to grade about the same although they are definately grading harsher than they were 2-4 years ago. Overall, I was happy with both submissions. As I have been sending in submissions for 6 years now, I find that I am happy with a high grade, but I am rarely disapointed with a grade that is lower than expected. To me, a high end 50 is just as nice as a low end 60. I guess I am getting less enamoured with chasing the grade thing. I do like the sgc cases although I am having some problems with the inserts. I understand Sgc is fixing that.

Shane, I am thinking of switching all my Psas over to Sgc. I am not sure how it works yet, but I will probably go to the Reading show and figure it out.

Thanks for all the kind comments.

Awesome find. Whenever I hear about bulk estate purchases like that I find myself wishing that my grandfather (born 1900) had been a juvenile chain smoker.

WOW! Martin I saw this collection on ebay and wrote them. I wanted to drive down from Maryland but became lazy and blew it off. Glad to see they went to a good home!

When I submitted the large Fells Point in Baltimore find a few years ago, I would like to state that SGC did a wonderful job with that huge submission!

Most were graded perfectly to me, very few maybe 1 grade lower than I would have but also a few graded 1 higher. I was very impressed!

Again congratulations on an excellent acquisition!
